Introducing Butterflies

I loveeeee that setting :) it is gorgeous and one of the first settings I have really ever loved for 3 stones!!!!

I see that the ring is supposed come with two 25 pointers (or so) or getting the plain setting is $1395...
MY quote for that same ring (no stones) was $1850!! Plus $698 shipping. I feel like someone was trying to rip me off now after seeing the prices listed.

Anyway... I think this would be a good time for yssie to post another glamour shot of her ring too:)

Thanks bean!

I would guess a big part of it is that since it's a stock setting now they don't have to spend time (or at least, time spent is minimal) on CADs, etc., so those labour hours are eliminated, and I'm not sure what the price of gold is doing now but that's perhaps another consideration?

I know it was more than that for me, too, as a first-time custom job, but that's to be expected..

Pics I can't do yet, sadly, I'm sans computer until Dell comes in to fix it and I can't find the link! ;(

I can't find the link either... Weird!

Yssie, question, this is your second setting like this right? Or am I imagining things...

The one on WF is my previous ring, yup! The one I have now is basically the same design, a couple of minor modifications - metal colour, stone size and height, mostly (realised I'm not a how-low-can-you-go gal ;)) )

That shipping fee better include customs duties or something like that.

Btw, really like the delicacy of the 3 stone with the torch baskets. I <3 torch baskets!

I just love your ring and the name is just perfect!

What's the difference between that ring and Vatche's Royal Crown 3-stone? At first glance they look the same.

It is a very pretty mounting - congrats Yssie!!

I too though would like to know the differences between the RC three stone and this one - are there any huge differences?

Doesn't that one have 4 prong on the sides? This one is a 3-pronger.
It might also be like half the price too.. (from what I can tell)?
I know it's personal preference but I prefer the 3 prong side look :)

Congratulations Yssie!

I love your three stone ring! with the prongs combination  Congrats!

Great name, yssie! Congratulations on having your beautiful design made into a WF stock piece!

Wow Yessie! A ring named for you--how cool is that?

I seriously      your three stone! It's amazingly gorgeous!

Pretty ring. . . I sat looking at the picture trying to find the little butterflies crafted into the metal :)

Very cool!

Cheers, folks! :))

MC - haha no butterflies in the metal ::)

To elaborate on this, the RC was my inspiration (clearly ;)) ), but I must say that I was inspired far more by the RC solitaire, as in looking at pictures and in person the three-stone seemed to lose much of the charm and draw of the "crown" - I wanted a three-stone that would keep *all* the emphasis on that crowned centrestone. The RC does have 4-prong sides, and there are other differences also, among them the height and angling of the sidestones relative to the centre (RC has them on the same girdle plane, this one's are tucked underneath), the proportions on the WF website are suggested so that the 6 prongs around the centrestone are evenly spaced, the shank pinches in toward the head, and probably most visibly the diamonds are set lower into the trellis than the RC for a much more 'squat' look.. When creating the first version Joe suggested highlighting the prong thickness decline (so that as the prongs extend out from the shank, wind around the bottom of the trellis, and curve upward to cup the stone, they visibly thin out), which really adds to the "cradling the stone" effect I was going for. We also deliberately made the prongs on the centrestone visibly thicker than the ones on the sidestones (this is in general a necessity w/ big vs. small stones, but we wanted to exaggerate the effect) to keep the highlight on the "main" vs "side" - the effect IMO is that the ring could conceivably be considered either a threestone or a 'with sides'..

I think you emphasized the important parts of the RC yet created something not so busy on the side view. Good job - I'm sure plenty of others will capitalize on your hard work and vision!

Oh this makes me so happy!! I've been secretly coveting your ring ever since I discovered your SMTB thread on it. It is absolutely, positively perfect, even down to the color of that delicious unplated gold. It's my dream ring, with one modification: I would love to see GOG's AV rounds in it!

Very cool Yssie!! Congratulations!

Cachette :))

wow, such a classy and fluid setting!

Very precious indeed! :appl:

Very nice. I like trellis style rings in general, and this one is very, very pretty. :appl:

Thanks for sharing it.

Droooooool.
