Hi all,
First from reading through the posts here it is very obvious that the majority of you are way out of my league in price range and that''s ok. Just an experience to pass along. I''ve recently been seeing the ads (as we all have) on TV for the 3 stone 1 carat diamond rings for $499 or there abouts. Having had some recent financial issues due to layoffs, at this point in life, that plus a bit is the range that I''m in. And that''s ok too. Point being, I called this company (many locations around the country) and discussed the ring with the gentleman. (I have bought enough nice diamonds and had custom rings made for my wife that I am at least aware that this would be far from the top end of jewelry). I was informed, as expected, that this ring was not as high a grade as others therefore the price. Then he went on to tell me that it was not an issue as even a $350K diamond has flaws in it, often even facets that are wrong, etc.. First, I''m not the brightest bulb in the pack or the most experienced consumer in a lot of things, but you can bet if I spend $350K on anything there better not be any flaws in it. I guess I''m just passing along the conversation to point out the buyer beware to folks who would look here for information as I have, and to compliment those of you out there that do keep a bit of common sense to what you do and a huge dose of honesty.
If you have this same conversation with anyone, even in a retail store, that wants to sell you something..............RUN.
If I do find something in that range, you can bet it won''t be from there.
Thanks all for the sounding board.
Mike
