Initial Impression on this stone?

This is what Karl is discussing - shallow stones work well when heads are further away.
But with those proportions the stone would need very long lower girdles and the chances of a cutter knowing that and doing it are almost zilch.

What are your opinions of the 2nd stone I posted a screen shot of otherwise?

I may recommend this one to him - seems to score much better. The HCA has it under 1.0.

Thoughts?

Here is a model of those proportions - with your lower girdle length in the middle. Cutters should know that they can make a nice firey stone if they make the lower girdle facets much thinner. And no - dont buy it and have it recut as it will fall under 2ct.

Can we get moderators to clean up the vendor specific talk? I very much appreciate your insight. I do realize that high-crown is less desirable for rings, but what would be considered the maximum? Having to find a 2ct stone for under 20k there will have to be compromises. Where should those compromises be?

Folks, to clarify something trade members are not allowed to comment on stones under consideration for purchase regardless of whether vendors are directly mentioned or not. This is to keep the forum unbiased.
