I inherited my mom's engagement ring about a decade ago and for the longest time didn't know what to do with it. I'm a white metals person and lean more to colored stones than diamonds. But a couple weeks ago I decided I wanted the option of wearing it. It was sad just sitting in a box! I took it to my local jeweler who rebuilt the shank and resized it and cleaned and polished it up and now I can wear it! Picked it up today!

Here are some iPhone pics, will try to post better ones this evening.

Lovely! Unique and beautiful. Glad you're enjoying this beauty.

I love this!

What a cool ring! Your mom had very cool taste. I love it just the way it is.

That really is unique and beautiful! Now that yellow gold is back in style, I am so glad you are wearing it as it is! I was afraid you were about to say you were resetting or rhodium plating it, but I think it is perfect as it is!

So unique and beautiful! Love the richness of the yg! :appl:

Lovely and so special given it is from your mom. You wear it well!

What a beautiful ring! It looks great on your hand!

Such a cool and unique design...your mom must have been fashion forward! If you mostly where white gold you can pear it with
2 white gold bands...1 on either side...maybe do them in brushed metal? Just an idea!

It's so beautiful - what a unique ring! Wear it in good health.

Aww, thanks everyone! My mom was a very stylish lady and took pride in being one -- she would love all your comments! But I think my dad picked out the ring for her without any help! (He's pretty awesome in his own right!) The best part is I sent my dad some pics of me wearing the ring and he loves that I got it fixed up and am wearing it, rather than leaving it in the safe.

It is an unusual ring -- I've never seen one like it and even the jeweler commented on how unusual it was. I know it would have been bought around 1977/78, in NYC, but my dad is no help and can't remember anything else! I've got the appraisal specs around somewhere at home and more pictures, I promise.

Perfect pears! I love that you are going to wear it!

I found the appraisal, the ring is 18k gold, stamped on the shank (even after the repair). The pears are 3/8 ct each and estimated to be I and VS1. The appraisal also says that the setting is a think knife edge that tapers from 5.2 mm to 1.4mm.

Awesome ring! So unique and I love that it was your mom's. I do believe it is absolutely perfect!!

 I totally love this! I am contrmplating a similar ring with two pears, so definitely saving this to my inspiration folder! :naughty:

This is so pretty and unique!

I love the ring and I just went GAGA over the picture of it in the rose.

That is such a great picture and shows that you have inherited some of that stylishness that you credit your mother with. It is easy to see why Andrey highlighted it in his blog.

Thank you for sharing both the ring and your photos with us.

Wink

I only wear white metals, and if I inherited such a ring, I would re-set it in white metal in a by-pass style and wear it on one of my middle fingers.

I really love this. I've always wanted a two stone pear ring-- maybe some kind of bypass. But this designs is really eye-catching. Glad you are enjoying it. Looks great on you!

VERY cool ring. Congrats on getting it refurbished so you can wear it. :appl:

Love it!!! What a cool ring, enjoy and thank you for the great pics!

Thanks again all! It feels very special to have been Jewel of the Week last week and to get a comment from Wink!

I inherited a few other pieces that I am still figuring out what to do with, so I'll either be back to ask for ideas soon or show off results!

What a special ring! Looks great on you!
