Hi PriceScopers, I was looking at my oval cut diamond (E S1 .58 carat) in my office the other day and I realized that the diamond looked quite yellow. For a moment, some thrilling/scary thoughts popped in my mind (the jeweler didn't assess the diamond correctly... swapped with the different diamond etc) but I realized that the stone was simply reflecting the yellow-is office lighting.
It was interesting because the oval cut diamond was the only stone that looked more yellow. The surrounding small stones of halo setting seems to be influenced less. Also, I did not notice that happen with my solitaire with a round brilliant.
Is it possible that an oval cut reflects color of surrounding environment and lighting more than round brilliant cut -- probably due to the larger surface, although they were cut in a similar way?
