I was wondering if inclusions will afferct the overall precense of a diamond or just under the loop. For instance, If I got a S12 that was eye clean, would shine less or look not as nice because there are inclusions hidden under the service? Or do the inclusions only affect the ring if they are visible by eye from close range?
Thanks

If the SI2 is eye clean, I don''t see how it can possible affect the brilliance and sparkle of the diamond. As for affecting the ring when eye visible from close range, that''s only a question you can answer. Some people aren''t bothered by it but others are.

My thoughts and from what I have learned here by reading some posts by one of the experts....from a scientific point of view it is possible that an inclusion might interfere with the transmission of light even if the diamond was eyeclean, however this is something that if so, may not be even visible to the naked eye and only specialist equipment might be able to pick it up as the effects are minute. So from a buyers point of view it is unlikely to be an issue. If you get the best cut diamond you can find, then you will have all the sparkle and performance you desire in SI2 clarity, but make sure the diamond is eyeclean to your standards by checking with the vendor. It is also important to let the vendor know your expectations so you are both on the same page.

thanks, thats what I figured, just wanted to check

To add to Lorelei''s post, inclusions that might be eye clean that are more likely than others to have a dampening effect on the stone is if a cloud is the major grade determining inclusion in a lower grade diamond. So be careful of an SI2 that for example only shows 1 cloud on the plot and nothing else. Just make sure if that is the case that you are working with a trusted vendor who can honestly tell you if it impacts the performance or not.

ok thanks for the advice
