I am diamond shopping for the first time in 12 years. Looking at a beautiful 2ct stone that has been drilled and lasered for inclusion modifications, and is therefore not certified. Can anyone give me some feedback on any pitfalls to buying such a diamond?

A laser drilled diamond can certainly be given to a lab for grading and certification. Without a paper, the diamond is likely to be somewhat off graded although the seller may be the most honest of people. A dog without a pedigree is still a dog...

There is no reason to fear a laser drilled diamond. At least you are being told the truth in that regard. It may not be a super fine stone, but you may find it just right for you....That's certainly acceptable.

First port of call is to read the tutorial here.
We will not attempt to sell you a diamond.

We are strongly bisaed toward cut quality as being the most important attribute of a diamond.
