IN SHOWER storage.

So I am a vain person. The extent of which was called out by my husband this weekend when the over the showerhead shelf thing broke from the weight of what was IN it, and he was showered with stuff. And that was just the stuff in it...I have stuff in the corner that's out of the water stream as well. He lost his mind, so I went to get a new bigger over the showerhead thing that could hold more stuff, but I still need a solution for the corner.

The issues:
--this stone on the tub walls won't allow anything to friggin stick to it, including suction cups.
--it's also impermeable for drilling through....
--there's an arch above the tub area, so I can't even use a tension rod thing with corner shelves.

I found something that could sit above that towel bar thing on that end, but it won't just sit by itself and I can't find something that will "adhere" it to the wall thats not totally permanent or able to actually stick to the wall. I thought about one of those little corner caddy things that would in theory sit on the edge of the tub part...but that's 1) in the stream of water and 2) too big for the corner.

I am considering trying to bungee it somehow to the towel rod, though I have no idea HOW. But I need something IN the shower, out of the stream of water. I spent an hour at Container Store and then another half hour at Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday to like no avail.

Do you really need all those items in the shower with you? could you find a portable plastic type container that can go in and out when you go in and out, and leaves room for your hubby when he's in there?

A friend of mine has a small teak table in the corner of the shower to hold her stuff and to prop her leg for shaving...that might work. Vain....what do men know????

So you're a product junkie? lol You know, a solution can be to rotate products around. Get a container to keep under your sink and then switch items weekly so you don't grow bored of the ones you have in there. I started doing this b/c I like to have a selection of shampoos and I'm also addicted to Philosophy shower gels and it gets too crowded. I never found anything that stuck to the side of the shower that stayed put so I fit what I can and then rotate.

I use everything in there at least once a week, and if it's not in there, I have to get out of the shower while the water is running and make an epic mess on the floor as I clomp around the bathroom. I can't have anything on the shower floor or he'll literally throw it out of the shower onto the floor, or in the trash (he has thrown two clarisonics away because they were on the ledge and it pissed him off.... No kidding). So if it's not on the corner of the little tub lip or on the wall (not even on the shower curtain or over the rod, it can't be in there. And taking things out is simply out of the question! lol It has to all be in there. I really do use that much crap every shower. And I don't usually "plan" ahead with exception of two things what will be used each time.

I wish a tension rod thing would work. I hate this stupid arch.

The irony is he uses ONE of my products. ONE. And he doesn't think even soap is a necessity since back in caveman times they used water and that was enough.

We have had knock down drag outs over "need" vs "want" regarding products. His mom laughed her butt off last time because he and his sister used to have the same exact fights. I keep telling him he's a boy and doesn't get it.

I actually bought it yesterday. I like the hook system but it comes all the way down into the shower, so it's in his way and in the stream of water. I considered lopping off one or two of the buckets though, but decided if I was spending $30 on the thing I might as well just return it instead.

My thought too...we have THREE bathrooms (well, technically 2.5) and it's still not enough for us (four in our household, plus a cat!).

Ame - does your DH use any of the products you like? My husband got hooked on the philosophy gels and that helped a lot b/c suddenly he understood the need to have them piled up and quit complaining. lol Hope you find a something that works...or you could get a bunch of travel bottles and fill those as needed, so you can have all your fun stuff but take up less room.

We only have one complete bathroom. Until our basement waterproofing is done we won't have the 2nd functional. He uses ONE of my products, it's the only product he uses besides toothpaste and deodorant both are outside of the shower.

they're both too big for even a standard corner in a tub.

The over the door would not work as we don't have a door on our shower. It's a rod and curtain. But I did return one identical to that because would not stay still on a towel rod tho as it's too thin of a rod. It just flopped all over and all my stuff went flying.

Not sure if this has been suggested yet, but my husband took one of our mesh closet organizer things from IKEA and hung it on the towel bar in the corner of our shower for all our oversize shampoo/body wash bottles. It's kind of like this but shorter so it doesn't touch the tub itself, just 3 openings:

And the towel bar is still totally usable since it just takes up an inch or however large the velcro thing is that is supposed to go around a closet rod. It holds a huge amount of stuff and because it's mesh, it dries quickly if it ever does get wet, but since the towel bar is at the back of the shower, it's rare that it gets wet.

You say your tile is impermeable to drilling. Have you bought the proper drill bit if this is really an option (to put permanent holes in the tile)? I've drilled through a good amount of tile in my old bathroom reno and it's not as hard as it sounds.

Or you could screw a wedge into the ceiling to make the arched part flat and use a corner tension rod thing there. I had slightly sloped ceilings in my old bathroom and used a corner caddy like that. I was surprised that it worked, but it did. Those things are pretty beefy (at least the one I bought... trying to rememember where I got it).

What products do you keep in the shower? I've been trying to figure out what they could be, but I can't get beyond the basics.

I have a bottle of shampoo, a bottle of conditioner, a bar of body soap, a bar of face soap, and a razor. What else is there? Oh, and we keep a bottle of pup shampoo in there, as well. But that's it. What am I missing?

I like that idea. Maybe not for the stuff you use most often, but if you could cut the size of even half of your bottles down it would probably make finding storage easier.

The three baskets on a chain looked like it had potential (the one you mentioned you bought but then returned because it hung too low) -- could you shorten the chains some between each of the baskets so that it didn't hang as low? (if you could swap into travel size with some of your stuff, you could have the bottom two pretty close together)

We were told up front that it was nothing that could be drilled, and like two morons we still picked it. And we have broken several bits made for stone and the like. It actually broke our big wet saw when we tried to cut one of the leftover slabs down to make something with it. Not just the blades, the whole saw. A big commercial saw we had bought for tiling our old bathroom couldn't handle it. There's no grout to drill into either. The towel bar is "part of" the tile. I don't know how to describe it. The only thing I use this towel bar for is to hang my comb off of it and clip two hair clips on it. Otherwise it could not exist and I'd be thrilled.

As for the arch: Plaster that crumbles when you touch it, and falls apart in chunks when you try to screw into it. We've tried literally everything. Can't even put those mounting things in the wall and screw into those because the wall just falls apart. Have I mentioned how much I hate this house?

And a list o products:

1 bottle of Dove Body Wash
2 different facial washes that are alternated
1 facial scrub/microdermabrasion product
1 bar of Dove Sensitive Skin bar soap (alternated with the above)
1 razor
4 various color depositing conditioners in shades varying from gold to bright dark red (I mix them normally depending on where in the cycle my hair is that night)
2 color depositing shampoos in copper and red
2 different color safe shampoos
1 bottle prell for prepping before root touchup (gets the conditioner out--only in shower every other weekend)
2 different conditioners that I alternate with and use after color depositing stuff
2 different deep conditioner items that I use before and after Prell.
1 Bath Pouf
2 hair clips
1 comb
and a Clarisonic that is only in there if I am trying it yet again and am interested in ruining my face again. I keep thinking one of these times itll work for me.

He uses the Dove Body Wash and that's it. And sometimes apparently my pouf (ew)

I really do use quite a few of those in a shower. Esp conditioners. And thats the stuff in the shower. I use another leave-in or two after. I have long dense hair so I use a lot of each one at a time, little travel things are like a one shot deal usually.

My poor hair is neglected. I just wash and condition it, and then I let it dry. Sometimes, I'll brush it out once it's all dry. Most of the time, it looks pretty decent as-is so I just leave it alone.

Agreed 100%. Hmmm...this is a tough situation. I'm not getting why he can't compromise so that you can have something next to the shower that holds your stuff? I get why he is pissed because it *IS* a lot of stuff but obviously the solutions to this are pretty limited at this point. There's gotta be a happy medium...

We have dual sinks and need a third, because one of our cats hogs the sink. As in if you walk towards the bathroom, he runs in front of you and jumps on the counter...and waits for you to turn on the water. If it weren't so cute it would be really annoying.
