IN SHOWER storage.

Yea it IS a lot of stuff, but he likes it long and this color as much as I do, and this is what it takes to keep it as such! So he needs to get over it. I am sick with either mono or the plague (which I JUST got over) which hit me like a dump truck last night, so I am not going to indulge it tonight.

Maybe you hit on it Ame - may be he just has to get over the things you require in the shower. (don't mean it to be harsh...just a statement) that to keep your hair as lovely and looking as you both desire, this is the price to pay - losing real estate in the shower. I like the idea of a small table just outside the shower - teak would survive the humidity in a bathroom - and that maybe where he puts things when he's in the shower if he really wants more space.

Just babbling!

Ame - you can send me your Clairisonic :)

AMEN! You like products, therefore you will have lots of them. He needs to embrace that.

Feel better, Ame. The plague sounds horrible. Perhaps a hot bath is in order?

Thanks! I did just take a soak. Now I'm watching golden girls! Lol

He does need to get over it!

I LOVE Golden Girls! They're a great antidote to feeling crummy.

It's not the prettiest, but maybe a couple of these pushed to the back of the tub? It may not be super sturdy though, you'd have to look at it.

Can you put this over the towel bar at the end of the shower:

It may not hold everything, but it's a start and looks nice.

Perhaps you can put the other things in a slim, rolling cart like these? I am thinking of putting one between my vanity and toilet:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/White-Wood-Slim-Organizer/12558341

I'd have to get out of the shower to use those, since that wouldn't be anything we could have next to the tub. But the ones that are supposed to do that over-door thing don't seem to work on the towel rack. This rack anyway.

He would kill that just getting in unfortunately. I considered one of those from the start and he said hell no. Actually there were other words that I don't think the admin would like me to type here.

The shower in my current apartment (only one) has an older wavy tile on the walls that suction cups do not stick to. There is also a towel bar at the back (opposite the shower head). It's a shower/tub combo and the corners of the tub are so narrow you could only put maybe one bottle in each. So I bought an over the shower head caddy and that holds most of my stuff, but not everything. So I bought two of these from IKEA for 6.99 a piece. They are also intended to go at the shower head, but have an open hook instead of the loop most have so I hung two off the towel bar at the back and there is even room for a third (though I don't need it). Maybe it would work for you?

There are several possibilities showing there...Ill have to ask one of my friends with an ikea if they can get me one. STL no haz the Ikea.

Could you just order some of the things you think may work online and go from there? I'm sure they'd be easy enough to return.

90% of their stuff on their site is not available to buy online, this included. I really hate that they don't make their whole selection online buyable!

Ah, dang. I didn't know that. There's an IKEA here (Tampa) but that's a long ways from Seattle. Are there any in the PNW at all?

put all your stuff into a wire basket and put it in the shower when you get in, remove it when you get out. you could have a little table just outside the shower to place the basket on....or if the shower is big enough put a small table in the shower out of the water stream. remove all this when you are done.

i hate to admit this but your husband does have a point. getting into the shower should be as pleasant for him as it is for you. if he has to worry about not having room to move about or things falling on him, well, he's pushing back for some space. give it to him. its a small price to pay for keeping the peace.....

I had a similar idea to MZ's - a large bucket that you could take in and out of the shower - a wire basket is a good idea because it will allow the water to drain - my son uses a large shower caddy at school but it might not be big enough for all your products.

I am not compromising on that. That's non-negotiable. It will not be removeable. It will stay in. I am not removing things every day, he will just get over it, or I will spend $1000 a week replacing everything he throws in the trash. He'll stop doing it after a few of those.

I am in St. Louis, not Seattle. The closest to STL is Chicago. Still 5-6 hours thereabouts.

Ah, sorry. I thought STL was Seattle. That's a bummer. They have lots of creative (and inexpensive) solutions for space.

I know. I love Ikea. When I go visit my friend in Minneapolis we go, and I also miss living in Pittsburgh bec even THEY have one.

Sometimes when we got to DFW we go also tho it's so inconvenient for where we stay and go there...

Hey Ame, as a fellow "enhanced redhead" with long, thick hair who also loves a good product, you might be able to replace all of this:

And a list o products:

4 various color depositing conditioners in shades varying from gold to bright dark red (I mix them normally depending on where in the cycle my hair is that night)
2 color depositing shampoos in copper and red
2 different color safe shampoos
...
2 different conditioners that I alternate with and use after color depositing stuff
2 different deep conditioner items that I use before and after Prell.

with just these:
http://www.kerastase-usa.com/_en/_us/reflection-bain_chroma_riche.htm and
http://www.kerastase-usa.com/_en/_us/reflection-chroma_reflect_masque.htm

(This suggestion probably seems out of left field on a thread about shower storage, but I LOVE how awesome this product is. No more color washout, not even of hypersensitive red dyes. My colorist cannot *believe* how little loss of color I have between visits since the switch. The shower now water runs clear at home when I wash my hair, and... I've been able to retire the color-depositing shampoos and conditioner. It's pricey, but looking at the size of your list, it sounds like your current routine is up there dollar-wise already, right? Oh yeah, and as an added bonus: it would also solve the shower storage issue!)

I actually replaced kerastase with the Loreal pro vitamino color. I got better retention from the Loreal than the more expensive kerastase version. I alternate it with Bumble creme de coco.

But no "standard" shampoo and cond is enough to keep it intact. Color depositing products are vital!

Do you have a photo of your shower? The tiles on your wall must be cuttable, else how they get the holes for the taps and shower head on the wall in the first place. Probably not a DIY job though.

Is it a shower-shower or a tub-shower? Can you hang something from the ceiling by the farthest wall in there? Is it a curtain or doors?

I hate sharing bathrooms..JD's been in MINE since August and he hairs it all up.

Just to double-check, you used the Chroma Riche (introduced in early 2011) and not the Chroma Reflect? They have very similar looking bottles and are both marketed for color-treated hair, but they're very different on the red dye-retention issue.

(Yes, I too have spent too much money on hair products-- gotta love the red, but that color will make you WORK for it, doesn't it?)

Okay, I was hoping somebody else would ask . . .

What products do you keep in the shower? I've been trying to figure out what they could be, but I can't get beyond the basics.

I have a bottle of shampoo, a bottle of conditioner, a bar of body soap, a bar of face soap, and a razor. What else is there? Oh, and we keep a bottle of pup shampoo in there, as well. But that's it. What am I missing?[/quote

I was wondering the same thing. All I have are the ones you listed, minus the pup shampoo.

I think you should threaten to chop your hair off. That's what I do when my hubby complains about all my conditioner bottles & how long I take to wash and dry my hair. (He loves it long, it's past my butt and getting to the point where it's too long and getting on my nerves.)

Yep thats what I used. When the salon stopped stocking it regularly (they would just order it for me) I started just buying it on the Kerastase site because it was faster AND I got little minatures (of which I have TONS for travelling). But I ended up trying the Vitamino Color when I was in buying the Bumble at a different salon, and I ended up returning all but one bottle of the Kerastase. It for me anyway, held color better. I don't dye my ends, I use colored conditioner to color them (it stains them!) And this stuff doesn't rip it out like the Kerastase did after the next shampoo. I can skip days of color conditioner now.

They stopped making the little conditioner bottle they made that was awesome, and now it's just masques and leave ins. I do want to try the "Sensitive Balm" or whatever it's called. It sounds like a low-detergent cream with low lather. But there are days that I just "wash" with conditioner and that works just fine.

Well THAT's settled! Geez --- I was thinking of "going red" to hide my temple area greys but HELL TO THE NO am I going through *this*!!!!

What's your natural color? Perhaps the stress relief might be worth giving it another go?

Like a light reddish brown. But I haven't had more than 1/2" of roots in 20 years and hopefully never will. Red with gray is friggin a nightmare. I am terrified of gray.

Gray does suck! Maybe I'll shave my temples & attempt some kind of Tribal/Mad Max kinda thing. :naughty:
