I'm still spinning my wheels trying to figure out which diamond to get for our engagement ring. I appreciate all the feedback on my previous thread and as recommended have decided not to purchase any of the loose diamonds I previously listed.

Although a premium price must be paid, I think ACA is the best route to take but Diamond choice A below seems like a really excellent cut as recommended by flyingpig on another thread. Thought between A vs. B & C? I'm trying to spend less than $20K but also want the best bang for my buck. Preferably I want over a 2 ct...

I think they're all potentially a great choice but you can’t get images from JA unless you buy a diamond. Then what happens if you don’t like it? Are you stuck with the JA trade up policy or can you get out of the sale?

If you want a guaranteed beauty, I say get the ACA. If you want to gamble a little get the largest JA, assuming it’s eye clean. It’s a big size jump! Just know that if you decide you’d like an F in a few years it’s doable with Whiteflash for whatever the price difference is for the jump in color. With JA you’ll have to spend $40,000.00 to change anything you don’t like.

Ultimately you have to make this decision on your own based on your priorities. Lots of us will tell you what we’d do. I had a JA “True Hearts” and I’ve moved on to a Super Ideal CBI, so I’d tell you to go the ACA route. Good luck deciding!

Yes, I asked JA for the idealscope images for the 2.01 ct and they said they don't have one. Is there really a visible difference between an excellent cut with great ASET and Idealscope images vs. a true ACA/Super Ideal?

We were just discussing this on another thread and lots of people had great things to say on the topic. You might enjoy reading it. And yes, looking at the specs on the two JA diamonds they would not qualify to receive the ACA branding. Will those differences be visible to you? I don’t know. I do know that I could never see all the arrows on my JA “”True Hearts” at once which really bugged me and which I attributed to perhaps a lack of precision.

Here’s the thread.

OMG— it is me that has it on hold. But, I’m not going to buy it. 2 carats is out of my comfort zone And I have decided against it. If you decide on that one, the hold will release in 2 days or I can release it. If we are talking about the same stone- it is the JA one.

OMG! haha what a small world. Yes, I saw flyingpig's recommendation on your thread and knew you were aiming for the 1.75! Hope your search is going well! xoxo

happy to remove the hold if you want to pull the trigger sooner. The hold runs out in 2 days. I thought it was a really nice stone and so did everyone at JA

I like all three.

the ACA is sightly shy of 2ct and that'll definitely give you the best bang of your buck! plus, you will have a peace of mind that it's the best in class in terms of light performance and brilliance. just my two cents.

What are your chances of possibly wanting to upgrade in the future? I know for some its impossible to predict but for others they
know they would like to have the option...especially if they are on the younger side.

You make a great point. I like the peace of mind knowing I could always upgrade with the amount initially invested in. So I think WF is the right choice : )
