I'm a widow

Once ?

_

I have not realized what a nice thing it is, that the couple of graves that mean something to me are otherwise forgotten ! Good thread, this.
I would not get anywhere near a grave! That is sacred. I was referring to the roadside markers that people make when someone has been in an accident at that spot. It is hard for Pinto to see, and Michael would have hated it. People leave them up for months and sometimes years.

Ha ! Indeed !

I was thinking of memorials ... without thinking of DESECRATION :eek-2: !
(grave robbing ?)

I can't even drive down that road and it's a major local road. I only go on it westbound in the opposit3 direction.

Idiot me talking ...

So back to the boyfriend thing. I procrastinate nowadays with the colder weather on doing things. I sleep a lot. I crochet. Clearly I'm tripping over single men left and right. And as you can see, I'm currently rocking a "patrolling for men" outfit, down to the mismatched socks.

If I were a guy, I would totally date you in that outfit.

And I have to say - are you 500 lbs or something?? Because your mother's comments make you sound so outrageously huge that one could be forgiven for thinking you're the size of a small motorized vehicle!! Failing that - your mom is smoking crack. Ignore her.

Omg imagine turning this into a pick up line - "hey baby - I'm 500 lbs and the size of a small motorized vehicle! Come and take a ride!":lol-2:

Good god! Your mother thinks you’re fat? She should get her head checked. Might as well get a full work up while she’s at it. :confused2:

Should we be diagnosing PintoBean's mother without seeing her in person? Isn't there some rule against doing so that keeps being invoked against professionals who attempt to pin diagnoses on Trump without seeing him in person? When my colleagues and I used to come across people like PintoBean's mom we usually gave them the highly technical diagnosis of "pain in the neck" (only we we actually lowered the site of where the pain struck a bit).

And, yeah, PintoBean, you are small and curvy and adorable. I think most men would think of you as an adorable, round, LITTLE armful. Men want warm, soft women. A country song where a man sings he wants a woman "warm and willing" keeps ringing in my head. I love you in those PJs. Many men would, too!

What did that old woman got us talking about ! :shifty:

Sending warm thoughts and hugs on a cold day! :wavey:
Curl up with your sweet kitties and know we're thinking about you!
And, umm, you're thinking about us too, right? :mrgreen2:

How is the new year going for you PB? Is that job prospect still in the works? Been thinking of you a lot and I know your birthday is in a few days.

I'm gonna check for an update tomorrow on the job.

@Asscherhalo_lover and I have a dinner date on Wednesday  and on Saturday I get to see @ac117. Im having a birthday dinner at my neighbor's house and requested "potato bar" for my birthday - it's just toaster oven baked potatoes that my neighbor does to perfection. When you split the potato the steam poofs out and the potato is just wonderfully fluffy! I call it potato bar because she's got the fixings out - sour cream, butter, chives, etc. Her husband gets a metallic taste in his mouth from chemo and the potato is palatable for him too. I'm hoping to figure out what cake I'm in the mood for. My back up cake plan is a carrot cake from Costco lololol. This is all weather permitting of course.

My parents - lololol :confused2: no comment. They'll just call me on my birthday.

Since I don't know the exact date, happy early birthday PB!!!

.

... then again, you would be forgiven to forget that your phone might be left discharged just that day. Useful gift that costs nothing at all !

[FYI, latest dinner: baked potato (great invention .-) with vinaigrette & fresh rosemary, with some properly old cheese on the side ... Having them with soured milk & pickles runs in the family; next round.]

Since I don't know the exact date, happy early birthday PB!!!

I think she once said January 11, but my memory has been shot for years and I did not go back to check! I just remember that we were discussing how close it was to Christmas. Is it the 11th, PintoBean?

January 9! Anyways, with a winter birthday I've learned to be flexible with the date lolol.

You may not know it, but that's tomorrow, PintoBean! Happy Birthday!!!

Hugs,
(((PintoBean)))
Deb

This is the toughest "first" of all the milestones to date. :cry2: The benefit of crying it out at 2AM is that when I'm ready for my two servings of chocolate croissant breakfast later in the AM, the crying won't disrupt my eating.:lickout:

As hard as this time is, always remember it, because when things get good - and they will - you will so appreciate the good stuff for having gone through the bad stuff. In the meantime, have a good cry in your comfy PJs, then enjoy your pain au chocolat.

Big squeezey hugs and smooches from me for your bday!

Pinto, Sweetie, you've been through so much.
Each 'first' is going to be difficult. Subsequent special occasions won't magically become easy but will, hopefully, become easier. You'll find a way to move forward. Your life can, should and will be filled with wonderful joy and laughter. Things are different and difficult at times, but you're making the transition to a new normal. One in which I hope you become increasingly aware of your strengths and wonderful qualities. Try to focus on and fill your life with people and things that bring you joy.

Sending you hugs and comforting thoughts, and wishing you a day that makes you realize your great qualities and ability to create a wonderful future.

I can't even fathom how today is for you. None the less, happy birthday. Know thta we here love you very much and are thinking of you.
And YAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS to pains au chocolat . Which ones do you get? I love Traders Joe but if you have better ones to recommend to your french buddy go ahead.
Pain au chocolat and kitty cuddles, I hope the potato bar is great.
Big hugs.

I'm so glad you have people who love you and I'm so sorry that this is happening to you at all, darling PintoBean. You shouldn't have a birthday without your husband. But you will be OK. When I see the outpouring of love towards you and see how lovable you are, I know you will be OK. How could you not be OK? How could the sun not come out again?

Hugs and love,
Deb

Ah PB I’m sorry today is so difficult for you. Things will get easier over time but I know that’s small comfort to you right now. Sending lots of hugs and support to you - pamper yourself today and do whatever brings you the most solace and helps you make it through the day. (((Hugs)))

After lots of googling it turns out Galaxy makes both the Trader Joe's and the Williams Sonoma chocolate croissants! I was able to snag the WS ones on sale with free shipping which was great. I think the WS seem to be more buttery bc I see more oil released and the chocolate seems darker. Then again, I haven't had a TJ one in a while. But for the most part, I'd only get the WS one when it's cold out and I'm not going to trek out to TJ.

I never had the WS because I'm a cheap ass and less than 30 minutes away I have the 2005 world champoin of baking (see www.bakerynouveau.com) for a good price I get fresh super flaky pains au chocolat croissants etc ( the trouble: we always spent $100+ each time)baguettes, and CAKES...
Damn it just looked up WS and the pricesare much better than years ago... Though I am sure bakery Nouveau croissants and PAC are more than 3 oz each!
Will wait for WS sale and free shipping to try them ...:P2
enjoy your day as much as you can. Hugs

Dear Pinto, I am sorry the day was so hard. I hope your date tomorrow is so fun! Hope you tell us all about it!
