It sounds to me like the ring might be more of a tension/bridge/half bezel style and not a cathedral. Do they have a pic of it on the Shane Co website?

It is a standard 4 prong setting but the way the ring is designed it creates the same affect as the half bezel. It was closer to this http://www.shaneco.com/Catalog/ProductDetail.aspx?O=RV&X=41015454. When you look from the top down the ring wraps around the diamond. The ring ''flares'' at the top to hug the diamond.

That sounds very graceful. And definitely something that the vendors here could help you with. Especially if you can put that detail in your model. That''s a great way to show a vendor what you''re looking for.

Sorry I have been MIA the last 3 days. My high school team had a competition. I finally managed to get a picture of the ring. This is actually a picture of the wedding set.

Nice work, tdoken! That''s a great photo with plenty of detail. Wink from High Performance Diamonds could make a replica of that setting, and I am confident several other vendors mentioned in your thread (Whiteflash, BGD) could, too. They will not make an exact copy (due to copyright) but they will be able to give you more options on choice of metals. What I would do is send each of the vendors (who have diamonds you''re interested in) a copy of this photo with an e-mail asking for an estimate on what they would charge to make this setting. I''m not sure how much the Shane setting cost, but I would suspect on of the PS vendors could give you a competitive price to Shane (with better craftsmanship/gold content, too). It is always easier to get the diamond and the setting from the same place.

Sara,

That is what i am hoping to do. I have been talking to someone from whiteflash, I will get in contact with wink and see what we can work up. That set goes for $1200 at Shane.

Thanks,
Kirk

Great! You are on the right track - please let us know when you make a decision!

That is my favourite style of solitaire ring, I like the flare of the shank.

Try and get quotes from 2-3 vendors and see how they come in price wise.
