Engaged as of last night/this morning. What do you think?

I can appreciate a honker, but these rings are just so busy and scream NEW MONEY. I want to rescue the diamond and put it in a nice yellow gold solitaire setting.

It's the person + the manicure + the ring = not feeling it :naughty:

Who's Iggy?

Iggy Pop? That's the only Iggy I can think of!

No matter who it is, that sure is a ring. And I like it all the more on them than I would in my collection.

Iggy Azalea, she's a rapper and songwriter - had a hit song called Fancy.

Yes, Iggy Azalea. Engaged to NBA lakers player Nick Young. Very 'new money' if you want to call it that. I usually prefer a more delicate setting, but I do like that its a FCD. And holy smokes, what a size.

Well, I just listened to "Fancy" and I think she totally ripped off Gwen Stefani.
However, the ring is really nice. I would prefer a solitaire, myself, but I certainly wouldn't kick that ring out of my bed!!!

Fab ring! Catmom might approve :wink2:

My thoughts exactly. Who?

I love the ring! The nails, not so much.

I looked her up and listened. That's 3:24 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Like all pop music, I wonder what she'd sound like without all that processing. Can she actually sing or is she just popular for her image? She does seem to have the inability to cover much of her body that makes young women so popular.

nice stone, nice ring, been done. I'd take it of course.. doesn't do a lot for me per se.

I LOVE this ring. She should have posted a profile shot though! The diamond looks a lot better than possibly any other big radiant I've seen on a celeb ring. And she looks very happy in the pictures.

Los Angeles Lakers player Nick Young proposed to rapper Iggy Azalea on his birthday with a 10.43 carat Jason of Beverly Hills engagement ring valued at $500,000. The bride-to-be's ring features an 8.15-carat fancy intense yellow cushion cut center stone with 2.28 carats of white diamonds set onto 18-karat white gold.

Fancy, indeed!

"Nick was very involved in designing the ring," Jason Arasheben, CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills, tells E! News. "We wanted it to be both a ring of Iggy's dreams and a ring that fit her personal style. It is always an honor when a client trusts me to help design a ring that symbolizes one of the most important decisions of their life."

Designer's picture posted to instagram:

Rhea- if you saw a video of one of her live performances, the "can she sing" question would have been answered for you. I would recommend not doing that though.

I had to look up the term "new money" in the Urban dictionary and I guess that I still don't really get it. What difference does it make if you come from money or you make it later in life? My take on it is how someone earns and/or spends their money is none of my business (as long as it's legal) =)
Anyway, as far as the ring is concerned - it's pretty. It's a bit chunky for my taste, but I can still appreciate it for what it is. I'm not a huge fan of Iggy because I'm probably too old to appreciate her music.

I knew someone would call me out for saying that, but that is all I see when I look at these young kids' rings. Less about personal style and taste and more about who can buy the biggest and most diamond encrusted ring, so much so that after awhile they all begin to look the same. They are fun to look at though.

^I'm not really calling you out on it, Elliott - I honestly wasn't sure what the meaning was, so I looked it up.
I guess the term just seems sort of odd to me. I mean, some people come from money, some don't - some make money later in life, some don't. I get the in-your-face kind of display with money and I suppose that's more likely to be associated with "new money" as opposed to someone who's had it their whole life. I suppose, though, if I became a millionaire, I'd probably make a few "showy" purchases, so I don't really spite someone for spending how they see fit.
I think I understood what you mean - no harm done =) And, yes, the rings/jewelry certainly is fun to look at :D
Oh, and thanks to this thread, now I've got that darn song stuck in my head  :?

The diamond looks gorgeous but the setting isn't to my liking. I think it's just too much for such a large diamond. Maybe a single very delicate halo would have been plenty of bling without crossing over into too much territory. Either way if she loves it that's all that matters!

This may be gauche but I think the ring looks too mature for her age/style. But as long as she likes it.

^I agree. The setting does seem a little mature for a young person

It's a lovely ring, and I don't mean to be snippy, but I do think it overwhelms her hand. I'm thinking a somewhat smaller, more delicate ring would better suit her hand. (Thank goodness PS doesn't impose bans for heresy!)

But... that ring will be able to stand its ground should it ever have to compete with an NBA championship ring.

And I hope they (the people couple, not the future ring couple) are very happy together!

VR, after going back and looking at the pic I agree with you - I love substantial rings but it looks too big in proportion to her hand - I think even the same ring would look really pretty if everything was scaled down to a smaller size. I do think it's a pretty style of ring though.

I'm not familiar with Iggy. The ring is a little too big and busy for my taste. The manicure makes her nails look like they are dirty underneath. I had to do a double take and look closer to realize the look was intentional. Maybe it all looks better in person.

I had the same thought when I first saw the picture - her nails are dirty! LOL......
