So we can''t talk about race here, so I''m not. This question is about FOOD!!!

If you have an ethnic background (well, I guess we all kind of do, right?), is the food from your culture your favorite, or is your favorite food from another culture?

Korean food is definitely my favorite, but if I HAD to choose, I''d pick sushi or my childhood comfort food which is spaghetti. But on most days, I LOOOOVE Korean food!

I''m half Caucasian, half Hispanic, and I dislike Mexican food a lot of the time. I think it''s because I don''t eat meat, and that cuts out a lot! Honestly, if I could eat anything it would be Japanese food or plain ol'' grilled cheeses and macaroni and cheese for me.

Korean food, hands down, is my favorite.
Otherwise, any and all pastas - I''m a noodle nut.

Hmmm...I''m an American with Ukranian ancestry that grew up in SE Asia, so my food choices are kind of all over the place.

From my family''s background, I *adore* piroghis. Mmmmm. Yay carbs!

From American food, I love a good hot dog or NY-style pizza.

From home, I love a good Thai curry, sushi, chicken rice, char siew anything (but especially baos...steamed pork buns, mmmmm). OH! And roti prata with mutton curry. How the heck did I almost forget that?

And one of my favourite comfort foods is my host mom''s paella from when I lived in Spain. I''m drooling just thinking about it.

Okay, I had to laugh because I get teased so bad that I HATE green chile and people tell me "you aren't a true New Mexican." I am actually Hinez 57 sauce, in my ethnicity (1/4 German, Hispanic and other stuff thrown in). hehe

I like New Mexican food but I love Italian and Vietnamese food MORE

I do love Sushi too!!!! Oh yeah and Greek, yum!!!!

I''m Armenian/persian, but I was born and raised in Sweden, so I was brought up with food from different cultures. But we''ve always had persian food at our house, and that must hands down be my favorite food, the persian cuisine has TONS of different stews, and the meanest grilled meat/chicken marinades, ah lets not talk about the rice, every grain is separated from the other, and it''s so greasy...Can you tell I''m hungry?

I do love the traditional Swedish meatballs with home made mashed potatoes, lingonberry preserve, and "brown sace".

I almost forgot, I also live and die for spaghetti.

I''m not from Iran, but my favorite Persian dishes are Ghormeh Sabzi and Fesenjan.

So yummy.

My can''t-live-without foods are those that stem from my latin roots. This would include: rice & beans, plantano (plantains), stews, cornmeal to make Arepas (or empanadas!), bistec, pierna (also known as pernil, or pork shoulder)...list goes on and on.

I also love Greek/Mediterranean food as my # 2 favorite.

I''m with you, ZhuZhu! I''m a European blend (Spanish, Irish, German, Danish, etc.) but I always find myself drawn to more exotic flavours.

I love all kinds of food, and after starting a cooking blog, it''s really expanded my horizons. I''m cooking with more and more Mediterranean, Indian, and North African flavours and spices than I used to, but really love that I''m forcing myself to try to approach ethnic cuisine with a fresh eye, and stomach.

I'm a lot Polish, and you can't beat a good pierogi (growing up in Pittsburgh, with a Polish mom, we only had the best

)! My favorite comfort food is probably any type of dumpling (ravioli, Chinese dumpling, etc) and pierogies are certainly included in that group.

Well I have a Jewish mom ( her parents were Eastern European jews but she didn''t raise me Jewish) and actually I love Jewish food.

I''m jewish and I really really don''t like traditional jewish food. I cringe at Hanukkah when I make latkes. I do it for my kids for tradition and I''ll eat one with them but don''t like them. My grandma use to make borsch (yuck!) and noodle kugles of all varieties. I don''t like gefilte fish, matzah, matzah ball soup etc and pretty much most traditional jewish foods. However, the one thing I do love which is so bad for you is fried matzah. Yum!!



Lets just say that at holidays, passover, hanukah etc I don''t have to worry about overeating.

My favorites are sushi, mexican, italian, and indian.

The ubiquity of Korean food among Pricescopers makes me feel that I should really remedy that! What is Korean food like? No one has ever urged me to go to a Korean restaurant with him! Yet I ate at Vietnamese restaurants in Paris in 1977 and tried Japanese food for the first time in the United States shortly after that. And I ate Thai food at around the same time.... Perhaps I do not live in an area with a lot of Korean restaurants? (I used to live in Connecticut and now live in Virginia.) There are many Vietnamese and Thai restaurants near me in Virginia, though!

I''m Indian (South-Asian), and I love Korean, Italian and authentic Lebanese/Syrian food. Yum.
