If you have an ethnic background...(this isn''t a race question btw)...

I'm persian and I love persian food. But I get tired of it fairly quickly. I don't really think I have a favorite type of food though. I really like ALL food. Indian, Afghani, Chinese (all regions), Greek, lebanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Russian, Korean, Japanese, Italian (mostly 'real' italian, though I like italian american food as well), french, swedish, spanish, basque, ethopian, peruvian, brazilian, argentinian, mexican, tex mex, southern, california fusion. I'm a food junkie. If it's made well, it's my favorite, and I'll eat it. Sad, but true. I really couldn't even pick just one dish that is my favorite. I have food ADD.

I am filipina and my favorite food is italian, in particular anything with seafood. Love it. I don''t have a favorite filipino dish.

Well I guess my "culture" would be midwestern American (ethnic background is a big mix, but mostly scottish) - food is steak, potatoes, burgers, corn, etc. No, it's not my favorite
2.gif
If I had to pick a favorite culture-specific food, I dunno... I think I'd pick Japanese (not just sushi, but shabu/sukiyaki/teppan) or Thai, but I do go through phases. Thai is a new fave.

Honestly, if I had to pick a favorite food (not meal, or genre, just food item), it would be fresh fruit. So what diet would that be, maybe Hawaiian? While we're on the topic of Hawaiian diet, I LOVE Hawaiian food! Maybe that's my favorite. Kalua pig, chicken long rice, saimin, lomi salmon, haupia........ luau food... mmm...... even plate lunch sometimes!
18.gif
Good thing I'm married to a man who's part Hawaiian, so I have an excuse to eat it AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!!!!

Sounds like I'm generally into food from the pacific rim... so kinda the opposite of what I am / where I'm from

The largest parts of my ethnic background are German/Irish and those are probably last on my favorites list.

My list includes (order changes depending on mood): Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Salvadoran, Thai, Korean, Chinese, Greek/Mediterranean, Middle Eastern (I know that covers quite a few specifics that I cant think of right now), Indian, etc... basically I love food.

My husband is Salvadoran and his "native" food is definitely his favorite.

I''m jewish and I really really don''t like traditional jewish food. I cringe at Hanukkah when I make latkes. I do it for my kids for tradition and I''ll eat one with them but don''t like them. My grandma use to make borsch (yuck!) and noodle kugles of all varieties. I don''t like gefilte fish, matzah, matzah ball soup etc and pretty much most traditional jewish foods. However, the one thing I do love which is so bad for you is fried matzah. Yum!!
My grandmother made kugels with little squares of bread squished together and I LOVED them. I would stuff myself on them every holiday! (She''s Jewish, but escaped from the Nazis during WWII so she''s never really talked about our heritage.)

I kind of feel I don''t have an "ethnicity," but I do live in the NW and love King Salmon, if that counts for anything!

I''m American with Swedish and German ancestry. I dislike EVERY Swedish and German food I''ve tasted! That includes all the sausage stuff and even those little Swedish cookies.

My favorite foods are Italian and Mexican. I could eat pasta and quesadillas for the rest of my life and be quite pleased.

I love all Asian food:
Indian, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and the list goes on. YUM!

Well, I love some Chinese food, but I''m Caucasian/African American. I am huge fan of New Orleans cusisine because I lived there for my college years. I tend to cook with a Southern style, just a bit more healthy because Nate''s a heart doc and doesn''t like a lot of butter/fat.

I''m 100% Ukrainian, and while I love potatoes, cabbage, and beets (borscht!), Ukie food is not my favorite.

I adore Italian food. I could eat it every day, for every meal. I can''t even tell you how excited I am to go to Italy this summer and EAT. Yum!

I''m mostly Irish, but some Polish, but only my dad''s parents who are from Ireland cook their cultural food. So I do LOVE steak and potatoes, and my dad LOVES a good Irish breakfast, pudding and all (yuck).

My BF is Russian, and while I do like some food, some of the food are truly weird combinations- beet, egg, onion, and herring casserole is not my type of food. My BF INHALES it. He gets all the left overs and it''s gone within the hour haha. I think it''s a comfort thing with him.

But my FAVORITE food changes all the time. I am on a Mediterranean kick right now- hummus, tabbouleh, you name it, I love it. I love Italian, but I try not to eat a lot of carbs, so it doesn''t really work. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Mexican food, which is probably my favorite. I dislike American types of food- I probably eat one hotdog a year *kosher only* with chili and onions and mustard. It''s like I need a fix. I also hate bbq sauce, so that''s a big decider in a lot of food.

I will try anything once and a lot of the time I find new foods I like. I am going to the Netherlands on Friday- any suggestions on food?? I have heard cheese sandwiches- yummm

I lived in Seoul for a little while and I love Korean food. Yum!

I''m German but not a fan of German food.
I''m Jewish, and I''m a huge fan of Middle Eastern food, but not the traditional foods we eat for Jewish holidays and such. SO, I love what I grew up eating as a result of our ties to Israel and the Middle East, but not as a result of our ties to the holidays.

My favorite food is Mexican food, though. Indian and Ethiopian tie for my second favorite, followed by Italian food.

I am mostly english and scottish, with just a dash of french. I love seafood and pasta dishes. I also have lived in California my entire life so Mexican food is my favorite.

I am German, French and Irish. My favorite is Mexican food, followed by Italian Food.

I am Cantonese, and our food is only as good as the person/restaurant that cooked it. I can eat my parents'' cooking everyday. MIL''s and my Grandma''s... hmmm not my fave, but I''ll eat it.

Other ethnic foods I love: Sushi, Korean food (BBQ, Tofu, sauteed rice cake), Middle Eastern (Kabob, Shawerma), Mexican (soft tacos, tamales, menudo), Argentinian, Thai (any kind of curry, beef larb), most Fusion cuisine (French & Japanese fusion is one of my fave though).

I am Bulgarian and love some of the traditional meals-shopska salad, banica and shashlic (I think that''s also popular in Russia and most slavic countries?). I like Indian food as well but unfortunately I tend to eat "junk" food most of the time.

Without getting into who I am and what I like, which has all been said by others and would only be a repetition, I have to say that I have never tasted any Korean food. The ubiquity of Korean food among Pricescopers makes me feel that I should really remedy that! What is Korean food like? No one has ever urged me to go to a Korean restaurant with him! Yet I ate at Vietnamese restaurants in Paris in 1977 and tried Japanese food for the first time in the United States shortly after that. And I ate Thai food at around the same time.... Perhaps I do not live in an area with a lot of Korean restaurants? (I used to live in Connecticut and now live in Virginia.) There are many Vietnamese and Thai restaurants near me in Virginia, though!

AGBF, go to Annadale! There are tons of Korean restaurants there.

Southern food is my absolute favorite, which is appropriate I guess since southern WASP is my general ethnic identity.

I like most cuisines, but I''ll always come back to a good fried catfish sandwich and cornbread.

My husband is Vietnamese, and that''s definitely his favorite. (don''t tell, but I think I like Thai food better than Vietnamese!)

Ethnically I''m Korean, but I was adopted and raised in the US and have little to none experience with Korean food. All the votes for Korean cuisine makes me think I''m missing something.
7.gif
I''ve had kimchi, but that''s about it.

If I had to pick one, I''d probably pick French. I''m also a fan of Japanese, Indian, and Greek, but I prefer variety mostly.

I''m half Armenian, and I loooove the food. I think quite a lot of it is either too time-consuming or yields way too much to prepare on a regular basis, though (my choreg recipe, which is a quarter of what my grandmother makes, yields about 50).

Other favs include Korean, Japanese, and French.

I''m mostly Russian Jewish, and I do like a few items from both Russian and Jewish cuisines, but I''m a strict vegetarian, so that limits the options somewhat
3.gif

My favorite kinds of food...well, there are so many, but I think my top 3 would be Italian, Japanese, and "California Cuisine" which is what my mom cooked while I was growing up. My ultimate comfort food is fresh linguine with a perfect fresh tomato sauce and plenty of parmesan cheese on top
18.gif

I love love love Mexican food but I also love Persian food. What about grilled chicken kebabs and rice is not to like?? We have Mexican in some way/shape/form about 3x a week. We LOVE taco truck tacos...anytime we think about moving elsewhere I am like...do they have taco trucks??? There is nothing better than $1.50 carne asada with onions and cilantro and nothing else.

In terms of other foods, here in CA we are crazy diverse with foods. It's another thing I love. Thai, Spanish, Cuban, Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Singaaporean, French, Salvadorean, Italian, Japanese are all foods we eat weekly. There are even asian bakeries that are specified as Korean or Chinese etc. I don't know how people are happy eating mostly American food!!

My favorite would have to be Mexican first (and there are so many types!) and then probably New American, Indian and Japanese.

I''m a Korean adoptee too! I like all sorts of food, but the catch is that it has to be vegetarian (no seafood or meat broth as well). I have to say, I did NOT like Korean food when I was in Korea. Mostly b/c it all seemed to be made with meat or seafood...sigh. Even some kinds of kimchi are made with anchovy paste or other seafood.

I love Japanese, Malaysian, Chinese, Indian and Italian food. I don''t subscribe to ''the best food'' opinion cuz the world provides my dining table and variety adds spice.
25.gif

Yes, I''m Afro-Caribbean and love Caribbean food. Second favourite would probably be Indian, but not since I''ve been pregnant, though...

I''m an anglo-Euro mutt who LOVES Asian food! Seriously, I could eat it everyday. Thai or Vietnamese especially.
18.gif
I''m also addicted to Italian. Mmmm nothing like good pasta.

i'm greek and i would choose greek food every single time. if i die young it's going to be because i OD on loukemades
18.gif

the only other 'ethnic' food that holds a candle is chinese food....which i like mostly for the rice. i also have a bit of polish in me and i really don't like any polish food except kielbasa.

i''m partial to the laikon cafe
9.gif
but i''m bias because it was sort of our family restaurant growing up. the plaka cafe and pegasus are good too...pegasus has crappy service, but they make up for it with their loukemades (which laikon sadly lacks). i''ve heard mosaic is good, but too $$ for me! high five for detroit greektown love!
