Hi All

I plan on proposing soon :) very excited and doing a bunch of research on diamonds.
If you had $5000 to spend on a ROUND diamond. What would you suggest for me?

Not sure if this helps but i am located in BC canada. Im willing to buy the ring in the states and pay the taxes to bring it over if the savings are there.

So far ive seen a 0.9 carat, i12, F, ideal cut for about $4500. but i think you guys can do better haha.
id like to have around 1.25 but i dont think i can reach it unlesss i get an EGL cert diamond and take a gamble.
Luckily She is not picky, as long as its shiny, round, clear, and looks good in the eye she will be content.

thanks in advance!

Hi Supra and welcome!

You will get lots of help here I know, just so we know what the budget is more or less, what do we have to play with considering taxes roughly? Is your budget of 5k to include taxes, stone and setting please? If you could let us know, then we will go to work on your behalf!

$5k is a reasonable chunk of change to get a nice stone!

You can save a grand and get this stone:
.877ct, H, SI1
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.877-h-si1-round-diamond-ags-bl-104071675001

This is also a nice contender:
.9ct, H, SI1
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11717/

If you can stretch the budget a bit, I would add these to the mix:
1.04ct, K, VS1
http://www.highperformancediamonds.com/index.php?page=view-id-diamond-infinity-new&id=982

1.068ct, J, VS2

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.90-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-238233

prong over the 7 and 10 o'clock inclusions

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.90-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-268494

small white inclusion in table, but i expect this to be eyeclean unless you go really close

ask for an image, but brian gavin will always look amazing. just ask re your version of eye clean. check you dont mind this glowing blue in a nightclub.

a very safe choice imo

safe and guaranteed eyeclean

solid choice - check eyelcean to your specification

safe and should be eyeclean

this is a modified round brilliant. ask the rhino what gia grade he thinks this is.

safe

If you want over a carat: http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-4578547-1.10-carat-Round-diamond-J-color-VS2-Clarity.aspx?sku=4578547&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

It is a J VS2 with Medium Blue Fluorescence. http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?pagename=GST%2FDispatcher&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&c=Page&cid=1355954554547&reportno=5166064078

Fantastic proportions.

And it is 1.10 carats.

The medium blue will help with the J color. And J is still quite white. I would by a J without any issues.

If you want to go for size, this stone, if eyeclean (you would have to ask) would be my choice.

They can call it in for you and send you an idealscope image before you buy (which you could post here for us).

Have their gemologist examine it and get back to you.

Good job folks!!! :appl: :appl:
