Okay, since we have hijacked poor Harriet''s thread...here is some new entertainment. If you had $48,000 and could choose any stone or stones from the PS database, what would you choose? (List basic stone specs, vendor, and prices)

id buy a house 48k is 2/3rds of a nice 2 bedroom .25 acre starter house here.

If I had $48K laying around I would have FOUR NEW SETTINGS made for my damn current stone and then have it set in the one with the *best corners* !!!

(Sorry -- my current angst came though there...)

Y''all are not following the rules...it says you have to choose stones off the PS database..price search..ya know?

This was pretty funny, though!

hehehehe...this is kinda funny...and sad...and true!

really, i don''t think i would spend the money on one stone. i think i would try to carve out a few and have different settings for each. hopefully more than two but those prices jumps are quick and hefty!

Thank you all for keeping me amused while my wonderful hubby cooks my dinner! The other thread had me laughing hard enough that he came to check on me. I am not nearly as diamond smart as the rest of you but I do know I am color sensitive and this is what I would buy from James Allen:

Shape: Round
Carat weight: 2.07
Cut: Hearts & Arrows Ideal
Color: E
Clarity: IF
Certificate: AGS

Depth: 60.1%
Table: 57%
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Girdle: Thin to medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Neglible
Measurements: 8.31*8.35*5.00

Crown Angle: 33.8°
Crown %: 14.40
Pavillion Angle: 40.9°
Pavillion %: 43.30

A 2 carat would be my ideal (actually a bit largerthan ideal, I think).

If I had $48,000, I''d buy a damn slice of PERFECT lemon pie that has NO meringue problems.

Yeah.....that''s what *I''d* do.

Maybe I''d send it to Rhino.....he''s gonna need something sweet to alleviate the headache of listening to the bellyaching about a certain asscher.

The biggest, nicest Asscher I could find in that price range. Although I''d really need more money for the size I want.

Okay, I'll start. It only took me about 3 minutes to spend $48,000 and I was able to get an e-ring stone and earring stones (rounds):

WF ACA G VS1 2.09 cts. $30, 871

WF ACA G VS1 1.124 cts. $8714

WF ACA G VS1 1.124 cts. $8716

Grand total...$48,301

Here is my alternate plan for fancy shapes:

GOG 2.03 E VS2 Asscher $22,000

GOG 2.06 G VS2 cushion $23,400

I''m saying you have a $48,000 gift certificate and you have to choose stones off the PS search. So you have to find something!

hmmm..... maybe this emerald cut.... I don''t know much about them but I like the ratio lol
http://www.engagementringsdirect.com/diamonds/1057939203
Shape : Emerald
Carats : 5.02
Cut Grade : Very Good
Color Grade : J
Clarity Grade : VS1
Certificate No. :
Measurement : 10.02x8.79x6.19
Ratio : 1.14
Depth : 70.4
Table : 66
Girdle : TK-VTK
Culet : None
Polish : Excellent
Symmetry : Very Good
Certification : GIA
Fluorescence : FB

I couldn't find the exact stone I would like.. but ideally it would be a 2.5ct G VS2, then I would send it straight to Leon Mege!

I would entertain the idea of a H VS2 so that I would have some left over for a nice pair of studs to match my new bling!

wowowowow!!! that''s like 1/5 of a 3 bedroom .15 acre starter house here lol

If I had $48k lying around, I would buy Kenny''s asscher as it really seems like a nice stone (regardess of whether the mosquito bite has been polished out or not) and the rest would be spent on the latest electronic gizmos.

omg omg omg I''m cracking up here - "it only took me three minutes" and I''m remembering finding earring stones did NOT take you anywhere NEAR 3 minutes!!! hahaha ;)

Rules schmooles ... I''d take the 48K hand hire someone to wrestle that giaganto Asscher off of Liz Hurley''s finger & give it to me.

Similar to what Kenny might call "robbery" but in a much more straightforward way.

hey I *totally* followed the rules even though I''d probably not buy the stone I found because what I was really looking for wasn''t available lol

The teacher in me really wants to say..you guys are SO not reading the instructions!

ds, I tried. Nothing is coming up that I''d really consider, and I just can''t throw 48 grand at something I don''t want.
