If you had $1000 to spend on diamond earrings (NOT STUDS) what would you get?

I''m not usually so indecisive but for weeks I have been looking for the "perfect" diamond earrings and still have no clue. My budget is right around $1000 and I do not want studs. I was pretty set on some round inside outside eternity hoops until I went and tried them on, and they just do not look nice on me at all. If I go for hoops, I need to stay closer in, like a huggie, and I realized I don''t actually like the diamonds on the inside. Would rather use the carat weight up front where you can see it. At least I narrowed that down. So, here are a few considerations:

1. custom made fishtail pave huggies, approximately 7 stones each, 5 pointers, total carat weight .70. white gold.

2. whiteflash inspiration-al leverbacks with a tiny .25 ACA diamond in each. total carat weight, .50, white gold.

3. shared prong huggies with larger but less stones, maybe 3 15 pointers in each, total carat weight, .90, white gold.

4. None of the above. You are dirivng us nuts with all your earring posts!!

This will be an everyday earring. Links, pics, opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

The problem with going custom for your project is that with your limited budget you are going to eat up a lot of it in labour and CAD/Wax costs but WF can tell you how much of the cost is in labour.

I am not sure how you feel about dangler or drop earrings but here are some of styles you might like:

http://www.myjewelrybox.com/?section=item&itemID=7356
http://www.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=371102&BannerID=PD115&PartnerID=LINKSHARE&LinkshareID=neQRQBqOKtQ-1wFk1QgqRAHYM4SV3cBfug

The challenge for a purchase of this amount, with the small quantity and sized diamonds its really difficult to compare a higher carat weight of lesser quality diamonds, to a lower carat weight of higher quality WF aca.
Without doubt if given the choice one would choose WF aca over other diamonds for same size and quantity but it becomes more subjective to make the comparison you are considering.

I really couldn't suggest anything other than it might be best to go to local stores and take a look at styles you like away from their big shiny lights and take a mirror or to buy online from a place with reasonable shipping and return policy.

Good-luck with this I think it is difficult with purchases around the 1k amount to know what to do, if you order online and are wrong it costs you $30 - $50 total shipping($20 each way approx) to return a piece thats why if possible try to find local, just find a place with good prices or willing to bargain and make sure they have a good return policy so you can see the earrings in many different lighting conditions.

My first thought was the Inspiration-al leverbacks, so I''m glad to see you''re thinking about them. They''re stunning earrings and a very classic look. You''d never have to worry about them going out of style, KWIM? Leverbacks go with everything.

OK, I read NO STUDS, but, let me throw these are you. These are studs, but have a pave border of small stones, makes the whole thing look bigger. Center stones from BGD, setting and mounting from local jeweler. Just thought I would throw it out. Not your typical studs, just my 2 cents. Center stones about .31/.32, whole thing within you budget.

Bosie ... those are AHmazing! Who is your local jeweler?!!

But I really came back over here to post these diamond hoops by BGD. I have *no* idea if they fall within the budget but they were so pretty & tempting I thought it might be worth an email to them to ask, if you feel the same!

I recently tried on some very tiny beadset pave huggies and was HORRIFIED at how inconsequential they looked on me. Even if I''d put dangles on them or something. BLERG. At least I can cross THAT off my wish list! Just an FYI if you haven''t tried on beadset pave huggies yet yourself. Would HIGHLY recommend even trying on fakies of all they types you''re considering to help you hone in on what works best on you & which you''d enjoy most.

GOOD LUCK! Fun project!!!!

1. These sound fantastic, but pave always seems really formal to me for some reason.

2. These would also be lovely, and I think could be dressed up or down pretty easily.

3. Somewhere in between every day and dressy, IMO.

I''d totally go for the leverbacks! Kind of like a solitaire, I think they''d work in almost any situation.

HI:

I've gotten rid of my diamond studs and lever back diamond earrings and have kept only one diamond earring item; small diamond huggies--5 stones each earring, .50 cwt each earring (5 x .10). Dress up or down--they are sparkly on their own and when I want to glam up I add my emerald drops. Hence my vote for shared prong huggies!

I think you probably know I''m partial to the inspiration-al style of earrings.

They''ve been a daily staple for me.

Not formal, daughter wears them for everyday wear.
Can I mention local jeweler? Not a PS vendor.

I vote for huggies! So comfy and very close to the ear.

deco, those huggies are TO DIE FOR!!!! Hmmm, maybe my next project!

Sharon - I didn't know you got rid of your studs and leverbacks! But those huggies are AMAZING. Lots of presence and dainty at the same time. Wow, gorgeous!!!! I'd live in them, too.

Oh, those pave studs are awesome. Must...not...pave...second set of studs...must...not...!!!

Thanks everyone for the great advise. Sharon, I am sold!! Your ear shots did it for me, it''s exactly what I want - dainty, sparkly, and I have a few lose gemstones I am thinking of making into drops.
Whiteflash is making these for me with ACAs. Should be about 10 days or so. I will post pics. So excited!
