If someone kidnapped your dogs or cats...

The dogs wear tags that say "Cash Reward, No Questions Asked." So yes. The reason for the tags is because a nefarious person is not going to take my dog to the vet to get them scanned for a chip. They will find a dog and try to turn that into money. So I want to make it easy for them to do just that.

Smart idea!

These threads are the reason why PS needs to let us swear. So I can get my point across about all the torturous things I would do to the kidnapper.

I know you’re out there. Be warned. I WILL COME FOR YOU.

Without getting too specific...I work to catch bad guys. I review a lot of criminal histories. Needless to say, if I see anything to do with animal cruelty or abuse, they are guaranteed to get special attention and take up a permanent spot on my poop list.

Some years ago now, my heart dog - the love of my life - was ill. We took him to aaallll the vets, all the specialists, everyone we could think of. We spent, on average, $2k a week, for 14 weeks. At about 12 weeks, his breeder, a lovely lady who also loved him, called me from her home in Canada one day and said "You need to think at what point you'll let him go. This is costing you a phenomenal amount of money. How long can you keep doing this??"

I remember I said to her: "I don't know, Pat. I haven't had the house valued yet."

And that's my position on my pets - and the people I love, in general, really. When I love, I love hard. He got better, by the way, and we had another 8 happy, glorious, love-filled years with him. So - worth every penny, and many, many more.

I'll never forget when he was a 9 month old puppy, and he was attacked by a pit bull in the local dog park. He was laying on the ground, silent, the pit bull on his chest, his teeth buried in my boys neck, and he was looking at me, somewhere between pleading and trusting. I remember, as I ran towards him, I had already made the calm assumption of how I'd kill the pit bull. No question. The dog was going to die. It didn't come to that in the end - I found my boot and a good swing to the ribs was sufficient - but I was ready to go all the way with it.

So if someone kidnapped my dogs? Calm assumption - this will end badly for them. And I'd be taking it all the way.

I know this sounds so jaded, but dogs really are better than people. Unconditional love 100% of the time.

Before DH retired @mrs-b , I used to take my dog out on my own, I wore steel toed boots for exactly that reason. He was always getting attacked by other dogs, and I was ready to send the attacking dog into outer space. Fortunately, after the first few times, Harry eventually decided he wasn’t having any of it, and fought back. It was horrible, but once he’d pinned the other dog, he’d dust himself off, puff his chest out, stick his tail right up, and trot off looking very pleased with himself.

Good boy, Harry.

I don’t know, I think after a day of two of having my cats beg for food and loving at 4 am in the morning, the kidnapper would PAY ME to take them back.

Yes, while working with the local police to do it right. But I'd pay to get him back just like I would pay for an expensive surgery for him if he needed it.
