Given that IDJ has such amazing reviews on Pricescope, I'm thinking of stopping in this week to look at a new eternity wedding band for myself. The prices on their website look too good to be true compared to another store in the diamond district where we purchased my engagement ring and first wedding band. I don't want to return to the original store because although their stones are gorgeous they didn't listen to my requests when they made my custom settings and I don't want to deal with that again.

My question is: does anyone know how good the quality is of the stones IDJ uses in their eternity rings (specifically the cut). They note the specs as SI for clarity and F/G color but I really want the stones to sparkle like they do in my current set and I believe most of the sparkle comes from the cut.

Any thoughts/advice/guidance for me to keep in mind when visiting and speaking with them?

Thank you!

Tell him you are a pricescope member and want an excellent PS worthy cut stone

I agree with Amy, definitely tell them that you are a Pricescope member. When I ordered my seven stone ring, they told me that I was getting FG color stones, ideal cut. I haven't gotten an appraisal on the ring but I can say that the diamonds sparkle like crazy! I believe that they are definitely ideal cut.

I had the same experience. I worked with Luann to have an 8 stone ring w F/G ideal cut stones - but the stones are not certified. My ring is a fireball and I am SOOO happy with it! They were very clear I was a PSer...

Thank you all for your advice! I did mention I was a PriceScoper and they said they would use PriceScope grade stones - I think SI, F/G and ideal cut although I realize they won't be certified.

I'm thinking of getting an eternity band with 10 pointers. My Ering is a three-stone in 18K white gold.
Center -1.51, F, SI1, very good cut
Sides - .24 each

Do you think a 10 point eternity will look good/proportionate? I'm a bad PriceScoper and didn't take pictures of the stuff I tried on :nono: .

can you pot pics of your ERing- I want to see it :)

I purchased an 8 stone x .12 points in 14k WG and my 3 stone is E .51/F 1.06/E .51 in 18K WG w Palladium. This is how mine look together on a size 7.75 finger

Enerchi, that's a beautiful band. I'm torn between the common shared prong and the u-ternity. They said they could make the common shared prong lower than the u-ternity but the u-ternity has such a beautiful profile.

Amy's Bling, I'm finally home and was able to upload some images :) My current wedding ring is an eternity band with 5 pointers but I really dislike how much metal there is. I would love to keep the same width but with larger diamonds and less metal.

I went for the U profile because my ering is trellis - I wanted to keep the "swoop" idea!

Your ring is stunning!! Try on a variety of styles to find what works best for you. IDJ was a joy to deal with - as you've obviously read several times!

Thank you!! That makes sense to choose a style that matches your Ering, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Beautiful ERing!! I have a 1.55 stone so this gives me an idea as to what it would look like it a 3 stone.

I have to say it...I like your current wedding band as it is! You have a gorgeous e-ring and I think what you have now is a perfect compliment! Bigger is not always better!

Thanks Ams Bling!

diamondseeker2006 - Thank you! I often wonder if I should just keep what I have but the amount of metal really bothers me. I felt really rushed when I was trying to purchase my ring and only received it the day before my wedding. The day after the wedding when I had some time to actually look at it, I was unhappy. It's been about 7 months and my feeling haven't changed ::) I would love something of the exact same width at the current band but with diamonds instead of 70% diamond 30% metal showing. The new setting with 10 pointers give me the same width with less metal. I love the stones in my engagement ring though and don't want to overpower them. I'm torn...

Yes, but that metal probably protects the diamonds from being chipped or scratching the e-ring setting. If you go to a shared prong ring where the girdles of the diamonds are exposed, you can plan on wearing a spacer band in between. That's fine if you like that more, but just be aware of the trade-offs.

I'd love a better look at the current band if you have a more clear picture. I'd like to see how it is set.

I'll see if I can take a good macro shot of the band when I get home tonight. I don't currently have any that really show what I'm referring to. Thank you for your advice.

I agree with DS on this; I think your current wedding band with the 5 pointers is big enough. I understand about feeling like you may be seeing "too much" metal, though. I too would like to see a close-up of your current band, to see how the diamonds are set.

Your three-stone is gorgeous, too!

I wonder if your eternity didn't sit so high if you would like it better? In a couple of the pics it looks like it's higher and bulkier than the shank of your ering. Maybe that's why you think there is too much metal? I agree with DS that the size of the diamonds look great with your ring, I think it's more an issue of finding an eternity that matches the height of your diamond.

Christina... - That's funny, I hadn't noticed that it looks like my wedding band sits significantly higher than my Ering until I looked at the photos I posted. In real life it isn't that noticable. I don't like the setting/shank of my Ering, they jeweler didn't listen to what we wanted and it has square edges insted of a rounder shape and appears to be very low profile. My wedding band actually sits pretty low (I think 2mm from the top of the diamond to inside of ring).

I am hoping I can take pictures tonight that better capture what I don't like about my band. It's sort of like an illusion. The band is 3mm wide but the actual diamonds are only 2mm so there's an extra 1mm (.5mm on each side) of shiny metal that makes it look like one seamless sparkly ring from far away but like "metal tracks" up close.

Here are some better shots of the wedding band. Hopefully you're able to see what I mean.

I see what you mean about the metal! I love your 3 stone e-ring  I would worry the girdles on the U-ternity band might damage your e-ring setting. I know IDJ made a super low shared prong eternity for another gal recently that sat very low so the girdles didn't hit the prongs so I'd probably opt for that option.

Thank you mrssalvo! I would like to avoid a spacer so it would be great if they could make a shared prong low enough.

Here is an example of 10 pointers next to my current wedding band. Unfortunately they're only cell phone-quality.

I see what you mean about the metal, too. The 10-pointer band looks like it's about the same width as your current band, though, so it may be the perfect size. I hope IDJ can make you one that's low enough, and has the look you want. I think it will be gorgeous with your three-stone.

Wondering who made your three stone ring and if they had any coordinating bands for it?

MissGotRocks, I got the Ering and wedding band from the same independent jeweler in the diamond district. Although I didn't specifically ask and can't be certain, I don't believe they had a matching wedding band as they never mentioned it. Given the number of rings I tried on there I think they would have mentioned that there was a wedding band made for it if they had one. Thank you for suggesting that.

I emailed IDJ on Wednesday to see if the could tell me how low the ring would sit (in mm) and if they could send me a photo of the 10-pointer ring I tried on. I haven't heard back yet but hopefully will soon.

Thanks for all your thoughts and comments!

Here's an example of my Ering with an eternity made of 7-pointers (this band was too big so it would sit differently I think). I don't think it overwhelms it but I feel like I might have DSS a little down the line and wish I got 10-pointers. Thoughts?

My favorite set (before I even got engaged :? ) was Frankiextah's old three stone paired with her 8-pointer eternity. I realize my setting isn't exactly the same (I wish it was!) but I love this look - not to mention all her other amazing Ering resets/upgrades.
