Sapphire: 9.34 x 7.66

More pics here:

@Rad_Fan here are freshly taken pics of the wonky blue sapphire :)

pictured with my other 5 ct sapphire and a mahenge spinel that I’m considering to do an et toi moi ring with.

Anyone think they look strange together/too unmatchy for et toi moi? Honest feedback appreciated! :)

What’s your ring size please? Trying to gauge what mine would look like, I just bought a 9.10x6.8 oval sapphire. Hmmm, and I think those two might be a little too matchy for a toi et moi. Imo

I think it’s now 7.5

Congrats on your new sapphire! =)2

Got a few new rings recently...

BE8A5801-2B4D-459B-A079-F31F083F3998.jpeg

First a preloved opal ring (on my little finger) as I was intrigued by the interesting pattern. From what I’ve read believe it’s a ribbon pattern (anyone can help to confirm?) and in motion the play of color flowing through the bands/ribbons (?) is fascinating to see. Am undecided if I should reset the opal and I suppose no hurry since I don’t wear opals nowadays... but just couldn’t resist getting the opal anyway :P2

Next is a light purplish pink diamond ring in a triple (!) halo... such a cute pink feminine ring that I couldn’t pass up although I felt like it’s a bit too dainty for me. Centre is about 0.23 ct with approx another 1 ct in the settings

One more ring that will take a while longer to be on my hand but am really excited about that. So it’s been a rather exciting start to the year!

A few more pics to show the interesting pattern on the opal. For some reason my phone camera refuses to focus on the other ring

Happy new year! That pink diamond ring is sooo exquisite, not too dainty at all with those amazing halos. It reminds me of a Russian doll and I love the mixed metals look.

Thanks! The inner halo really helps to give the illusion that the centre diamond is bigger - my DH actually thought that the inner halo is part of the diamond (and maybe that’s why he looked a bit shocked when I first showed him the ring hahahahha).

Your comment finally prompted me to look at the gallery for the first time and the execution of rose gold and platinum to enhance the diamond is interesting:

Thank you @Tartansparkles and @clementinemm!

Mulling if I should reset the black opals and really love the setting of this opal ring that was shared on PS quite a while back. Very classic design but the combination of milgrain and halo really appeals to me. Adding the link here so that I don’t lose the thread =)2

I just bought this a couple of days ago from a estate jewlery dealer and thought I share it .
Its looks different in person. The opal is estimated at 2.18 carats and the diamonds are around 1.2-1.3 carats. It came from a Jewler in Canada named OP Allan. There isn't much information on the jewler, has anyone heard of him? sorry for so many pic's. I don't know alot about opals, but my apprassor said it was a very good opal, and that it's hard to find one in an art deco mounting of that vintage. Dori

Did a video!

@T L @Bron357
Tagging you ladies here so that I don’t derail the opal thread.

From what I read I thought the opal has a ribbon pattern but @T L mentioned that it looks like flagstone?

Irl you can see clear distinct strips where the colors will flow along. Hopefully can see that in the video above. Curious what’s the correct description for the opal pattern and would appreciate if you both can help to take a look? Thanks!

It could be ribbon too. I’m afraid I’m not an opal expert, just a great admirer of them ;-)

Wow, what a beautiful ring. Very high quality given the size and colour of the diamond halo.
Hi, definately flagstone however it’s not “full face”, just the bottom section.
Flagstone is one of the more rare and desirable patterns. Unique. If it had been “full face” the price is likely to have a few extra zeros added on!

Thanks @T L and @Bron357 - I’m a great admirer of opals too! So I guess it doesn’t really matter the pattern so long as it’s lovely. The halo is approx 1.5ct and looks quite white - honestly took a chance as the vendor pic wasn’t that impressive but figured that even if the opal was a total write off the halo is still worth something. Wouldn’t have been able to afford it if it was “full face” and brand new for sure!

Opal is approx 1.9 ct - realized that forgot to mention in initial post.

Ok spent some time taking pics of my pink diamond ring as I felt like I needed a pic of the centre diamond in focus... (plus my DH brought the kids out for groceries shopping!) but big fail until I remembered that I have a camera app that can take macro pics! Yay! So here are some new pics:

before macro:

@icy_jade I love your new ring and I had to laugh when I saw the LEGO flowers! My husband made me a bouquet of those for Valentine's day! :)

Omg!!!!! Beautiful @icy_jade

The colour is divine!!!!! Such a bright, happy green!!!
Thank you and indeed the jade makes me so happy when wearing it.

I usually try to think it through before big splurges but this was one of those cases where I tried and just had to buy it... so maybe it’s stone affinity/fate/kismet or whatever you call it. People who sell jadeite always say it’s the stone that chooses its owner so maybe we are fated to be together ha!

Am told the color is 正阳绿
Am not 100% sure of color since there doesn’t seem to be any definitive chart on jadeite color names to refer to

Thanks! Do you like the set and is your husband an adult fan of lego too? I bought this to build but my kids ended up making most of the set and the bonsai set as well. Anyway I really love this set ;)2

So beautiful!
Thank you!

Greens of various shades and water quality. Irl the ring and bracelets have the best jadeite color/quality. But you can see how one of the cabs have really good water (which is what made me keep the cab despite the color). It’s been a learning journey

I don’t think I posted before but am not 100% sure :P2

Anyway the darker green cab is described as 卒绿 and is 1.2x0.9x0.5cm. The paler cab is 绿莹光 and can’t find the measurements. The pale cab glows, is super “watery”, and is the more expensive of the two loose cabs

It’s so watery, you know what it reminds me of? An omega 3 gel capsule.
