Its a Princess cut

Shape: Princess
Carat weight: 1.00
Cut: Premium
Color: H
Clarity: VS1
Certificate: GIA

Depth: 73.7%
Table: 73%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Slightly thick to very thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.39*5.24*3.86
Ratio: 1.03

some vendors show it as a ideal diamond...it looks really good from every thing i seen...The girdle could be medium-stk but do you think this under an idealscope would look amazing...or is it meh just another diamond.

if you want to play this game...you have to get an ideal scope picture.

ok so spec wise what do you think

Sure.

I don't really like the partially "very thick" girdle, but it could be ok. Need more information.

Depth and table information, without anything else, is useless. Absolutely cannot buy a princess by saying the depth and table are in a certain range.

What's your budget?

im looking in the range of a max of 5k for stone and setting. I really dont like anything less than a vs2 with h color i could go below vs2 as long as its eye clean and the flaws are hard to see even at 10x

The definition of SI1 is that it's "easy" to see at 10x. However, those of us with inexperienced eyes as well as out of the proper grading environment might find it harder than "easy."

H SI1 http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds_details.asp?pid=LD00900737 Proportion grade of three... I'm not sure what downgraded it that much (I wonder what the max proportion grade you can get with a partially "thick" girdle...)

H SI1 http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds_details.asp?pid=LD00400241 Light performance 1, with great proportions...so just goes to show, you can have great proportions but not have great performance. Slightly low crown. Still, a 1 performance grade is /nothing/ to sneeze at, and I like the med-slt thick girdle, and with the shallower depth, it is the second biggest of these four.

http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds_details.asp?pid=LD00400240 Biggest one, with a table larger than I prefer...

Not sure which is my favorite.

If you want a true AGS 0 and VS2 clarity, I think you might have to consider down to I color.

Yeah, so back to your original question. (Settings can be a wide range of prices, so do you have one picked out already? I'm more interested in the stone budget than the total budget)

These slightly imperfect Blue Nile H SI1 stones are about 4-4.5 K. An AGS 0 H VS2 will be a little over 5K. The one you posted is H VS1. Everything is a sliding scale... you get a little here, you loose a little there.

it doesnt have to be from blue nile btw...anywho...gf likes your standard tiffany cut. ive seen these from 450-650 so...the stone i posted with the setting came to about 4300...the stone was 3800 something or other...this is really more the range i am looking for.

thats one of the stones i looked at.
