I really don’t know what to do

I start practicing now...grgrgrgrgrgrrrrrrr

Good idea, I’ll take some photos with me.
However, they are clueless. He said it was a stock setting so you can’t expect it to work perfectly with just any diamond. [forget that the diamond is 6x6 and the bezel is 6x6.
I guess I should have known. Instead of buying a new bezel setting I wanted them to shave the prongs slightly on my original SK setting and use that. They said is was impossible. What WAS I thinking?! Obviously not much at the time. I knew I could send it to one of our vendors to have the original setting modified, but I was in a hurry to get that stone set. Good thing I didn’t let them near my SK solitaire. I must learn to be more patient.

Rocky, I got a kick out of your post, “looks like it was done by a FIST.....”.
I don’t mean to make fun of your typo, just that it was entirely appropriate.

[I’m giving up on editing my own typos. This iPad had a mind of its own.]

LOL no worries.. It does look like it was done with a FIST.

OMG...That looks something my kid brother used to solder together in shop back in high school!! I am so sorry you had to experience this.

As an aside: if you left a deposit, they may be able/want to keep it since there has already been work done to the piece. However, you can arm yourself with the laws of your state (if you are in the US). Some states have their own laws regarding specialty goods, or services provided by a craftsman.

Exactly...and the mere fact that it wouldn’t make its way into their display case to be sold with all of their other pieces speaks volumes about how THEY feel about their own work!!! GASP!! Just baffling how they just can’t take accountability!! It’s not like it’s off center...it’s a ring made for the bride of Frankenstein!!! Good Lord!!! There’s absolutely no precision involved!! My 7 year old daughter could have created something prettier!!!! :x2

I'm a little late to the party, but... WHAT THE HECK??!! ...I'd let them know that bezel job is nowhere NEAR "mediocre," much less "perfect."

Then I'd show him one of ANY of the bezel DK does (probably more affordably) than that travesty. "This is how a bezel is done... thanks."

There's no photo and after reading the comments, I am DYING to see it. Please post another photo =)2

Me too @Jacquiemalta! I know I'm late to the thread and I'm so glad that you were able to get them to cease and desist before they did any permanent damage to the stone! I'm dying to see this monstrosity they tried to pass off to you!

@Jimmianne -

Can you pls re-post the photo? I'd like to see it before giving an opinion.

Many thanks. :wavey:

I wish I had taken better photos at the time, but I was too busy being flabbergasted.
This stone has a nice crown and they set it so far down in the setting that one could not see the stone from a side view.
Anyway, the worst is over except I have to go back there to get it.:confused2:

Well! Goodness me! My word! <polite cough>......

I'm thinking that would be a major :snooty:

Is the band meant to be a satin finish? And - seriously - I cant even tell what shape the stone is! it's an asscher, right? (I mean - IS it?!)

Goodness me....

@Jimmianne I am so sorry for your experience.. this is one sad looking bezel :(2 I hope that no damage was done to the stone and I hope that you don't have to deal with that jeweler again :(
I am with everyone on getting all of your money back, what poor craftsmanship..
If they give you hard time, small claims usually works miraculously. Good luck!

That poor beautiful asscher!

In case anyone is still reading this...tada!
I got every last cent back, in great part thanks to your support.
I was prespared to fork over a few dollars because the bench unset the diamond from a bezel and did a great job of not hurting the bezel...
but when i went to pick up the diamond tonight they wanted to charge me $100.
I asked why and he actually said...
because YOU are the one who ordered the setting in the first place {!!!}
I just looked him in the eye for a long moment and he finally said “I give up. You get a full refund”.
But when i was leaving the store another sales person said,
Next time make sure you like the setting before having a diamond set.
jeez. talk about clueless.
Anyway, I’m very happy to have this behind me.

You DID like the setting. Just not after they folded playdoh edges for the bezel.

I might have been tempted to yell out....ANYBODY ELSE?

WOT Buffoons!!

cheers--Sharon

Oh my god I feel so much better about a bad experience I had with a local place setting a stone after reading this. That comment when you walked out and the long look lol, I would have had something to say after that comment ! So glad you got your money back and you were so cool about this. Love it !

Seems that they just had to get that last dig in - I am happy you got your money back though! I would have told that salesperson to make sure they could do the job before they agreed to take it on. Under the circumstances, that was a low blow comment to me.

I believe the term shoddy workmanship actually came up in the conversation, DS, but not so cleverly lol

All the support here made a big difference when I walked in that store today. The (PS) force was with me! :cool2:

Oh boy....that last dig....:angryfire:. So much to say and yet not even worth your breath to say it.

I'm very glad you are done with that debacle and can just move on ;)2.

I am so glad that you got your money back...but what TERRIBLE people. Forget customer service...that was just terrible manners on the sales person's part!

The true character and unprofessionalism comes through at the end when they had nothing to gain. It's unfortunate they didn't demonstrate some grace but at least you got your money back.

Exactly! Had they showed some honor and grace, the OP might be willing to give them another shot -- our at least not feel badly about them and not recommend them. Now, they guaranteed she'll never recommend them. B&M bushiness are taking such a beating, it is sad that some can't learn good customer service. Many years in a family business taught me to always treat customers with respect, accept blame gracefully, and never ever assume the person you are dealing with is a "nobody" with no influence.

I would so go on yelp and write a truthful and scathing review.
And I have never been on yelp in my life.

:appl:Good for you @Jimmianne I don't know how they had the nerve to even try to charge you for that mess!

Karl, I’ve been thinking about that!
