Hi everyone!

So long story short, I purchased a 7.5 mm OEC moissanite and had it set in a beautiful setting by CVB. I wanted finger coverage and I definitely love the look of it on my finger, but I'm not sure I love moissanite (go figure :roll).

Yesterday while lurking James Allen, I found this pear shaped diamond and put it on hold: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/pear-shaped/0.70-carat-d-color-vs1-clarity-sku-4914396

It's 7.62 x 4.99 mm and I'm thinking that when set in a halo, it'll more or less give me the coverage I want.

Do the specs on this diamond look good? And do y'all think putting it in a halo setting will achieve some nice finger coverage?

Thanks!

Can you give us your budget and specs so we can look for you? The stone you picked looks nice but there may be better out there. By better
I mean better faceting that returns more light as the stone turns/moves. Good pears are hard to find. You might also want to consider an oval
if you are looking for bigger. What are your thoughts on ovals?

Edit...you can go look on JA at stones/settings that have been made for customers. Look for .7ish stones
about the same size as yours with halos. You can get a feel for how big it will be.

Budget for the stone is around $2000, the one I posted is $1840. I'd like for the length to width ratio to be around 1.5. I'd like the diamond to at least be in the near colorless range. Also, no super noticeable bow tie.

Is my budget realistic? I was inspired to even look for a diamond after seeing this thread a couple weeks ago, where the OP's OVERALL budget was $3000 and she wanted a lot of finger coverage and it seemed like she was able to find what she wanted, maybe going over budget slightly.

I'm not a huge fan of ovals, but I'd be open to marquise.

Are you going to try and put this stone in your CVB setting or get a new setting and stone?

So didnt find one that I thought was all that much better on JA. Did find this which seems
similar as far as light return but ever so slightly larger but lower in color and clarity (and
cost more)...so ??? (not really sure its worth the trade offs). An aset would be useful to see which was
actually better (although they have limited use with pears IMO).

Did find this one at Bluenile which I feel like does have a slightly better light return, is slightly bigger but lower
in color (G). Good clarity. A tad more expensive. Dont know whether there is a halo at blulenile that you like.

JA set my pear that I did not buy from them so you could have it sent to JA.
