I picked up a Paraiba YAG from Gene - to set in yellow or rose gold?

It’s everything I’d hope it would be and a large stone at about 9 mm and 4.3 ct. I am wanting to set it as a simple solitaire. I had initially wanted rose gold but am now wondering if yellow gold would look good also. Any thoughts? How would either color push the stone color? E2710499-5405-451E-8B5F-9EB61721B394.jpeg
 
Yellow gold IMO would be more complimentary for this color stone. Pretty!
 
I wouldn’t do rose with this tone. Yellow or white.
 
I chose white for my YAG as I didn't want to influence the colour of the stone if that makes sense. I wish I could show you but it hasn't been made yet :( My jeweller has been dragging their feet quite a bit.

To answer your question, I think rose would bring out the blue tones, and yellow would bring out the green tones.
 
Thank you everyone! So hard for me but I chose rose gold because I have no rose gold rings. I will get it set and post a picture!

Hi everyone! I finally got my setting and set the YAG. I chose rose gold custom setting from Amcor, very reasonably priced. I love the size and how the stone sits in the setting. I actually love color and prefer this over my diamond engagement ring. May I ask what the custom process with Amcor was? How did you reach out to them for a custom order, get them the stone (did they set it?) and was there a setting fee? I’m on a loose gem spree and it’s kind of challenging to find affordable online vendors who are willing to set customer stones too in addition to custom setting. Thanks!

Hi! I sent the stone dimensions to Alberto from Amcor directly so he could custom make the prongs as my stone is larger than the diamonds people usually set. I did not have him set the stone, though I am sure he probably could. Alberto sent me the ring and I got the stone set by a local jeweler for $30. I was super intimidated by the process, that’s why it took me so long! I have to say settings vary so much in price, and not just because of weight of the gold. Mine wa a custom and cost $325. I really did like a Julia B flower setting that was similar but her price was almost a $900 after tax or so.

Thanks that’s helpful info. How were you able to get the dimensions of the stone? Mine from precision gem only came with I think the face up size.

You know, I just emailed him the face dimensions, I didn’t even think about the depth. I am glad it worked out!

I found and emailed him through Etsy since he has a store there. My sister saw my setting and ordered through Etsy also. When we had a ring made for my mom, he sent us an invoice just from his store directly and there was a nice discount without the Etsy fees (he’s in NY, clear across the country from us).

I am including pics from my sister and mom’s rings, a lab electric cobalt and a lab pink sapphire, all cut by Gene and setting by Alberto of Amcor Design in rose gold.

The lab stones really do sparkle indoors. The spinel is the electric cobalt one from Gene and for some reasons looks more muted in photos but it’s quite bold.
