I need some connoisseur help based on extra facet. Are all of the white things inside the red circle represent extra facets? Can they affect the beauty of the diamond? Thanks!

I can honestly say that given the quality of those pics... even the most knowledgeable expert is going to have an issue helping you.

I believe you are just seeing mirror images and light reflection. If a diamond had as many extra facets as you think you are seeing they would be seen on a GIA plot and at best the diamond would be a fair symmetry.

Relax.

You are not seeing extra facets possibly affecting the beauty of the diamond negatively. You are seeing virtual facets, which are at the basis of actual diamond-beauty.

Just some basic theory:

So, your standard round brilliant has 57 facets, but that is only the basis. Light entering the diamond is reflected internally, eventually exiting the diamond, and the 57 facets interacting divide the entire surface of the diamond after primary and secondary reflections into approximately 16,000 virtual facets (calculation of AGSL), all individual mirrors directed at another area in the atmosphere hoping to catch light there so that they can return that to your eye.

The number of the virtual facets, the size of the virtual facets and the delineation of the virtual facets are very important factors in the beauty of a diamond.

In short, do not worry at all.

Thank you so much for all the help...I was so worried thinking they were an invasion of extra facets but I found a great deal of help on this forum. However, I have another issue and I do not want to be a pest. The stone turns blue when out under the sun...Why? Does it contain laser artificial treatment? Click the link to see the image!
