OMG!! Ellen!

I just saw your thread and read thru your saga.

UNREAL!!

And, Oh! BTW, Pffft!! It was old millgrain that was not in very good shape??!!

Like that makes the mess he made more excusable??!!

I''m just glad you got to **B** him out on his dime!!

Sending PS Fairy prayers your way that your ring comes home in beautiful, restored luster!!

Aw, thanks you guys!

k, yes. One would THINK after awhile that trying to justify all this was not going to work, OR make me happy. He didn''t handle it well at all.

Gypsy, your post made me laugh!

FG, your post cracked me up!! Oh the visual of busting his forehead with my ring....Seriously, I''m not a violent person, but this is one time I truly think I could make an exception.

Neverland, yes, on his dime. However, I gladly would have paid it myself.

To ALL of you, thanks so much for the fairy prayers, I appreciate, and need them. You guys are the best!

Just found this thread. So so sorry for your experience. Hoping it comes back just as it should!

stonehunter, thank you. I hope so too!

Hey, Ellen! I am out of town and just had to check in quick to see what was going on! I am so glad you have some closure with the first jeweler and are now moving on to get the ring fixed, hopefully perfectly this time!

I don''t think it would be unusual for an old ring to have to have some extra reinforcement, but it should be able to be done beautifully, not a mess like that man did.

Sorry to see and hear about your unfortunate encounter with the God of Jewelry. He definitely did not help matters at all, in fact, he compounded them. But dont worry, a "skilled craftsman" will be able to correct it.

I wish you good luck and post pics when you get it back

MWG

Thanks ds and MWG.

Is your ring back? fingers and tosies crossed for you

You mean back from getting fixed? Sweetie, it hasn''t even arrived at the jewelers yet.

Which is making me nervous, since it''s never taken this long when I''ve sent stuff before. But, I''m thinking positively, well, trying to.
4.gif

And thanks for the fingers and tosies.

US certified/insured mail takes a while. Is that the way you sent it? Don''t worry it is in good hands.
I guess I am probably almost as excited as you are, for you to get your ring. I won''t bug you, sorry.
12.gif

Oh goodness, you''re not bothering me! Thanks for caring.
2.gif

Yes, sent USPS, but I guess (hope) I''ve just gotten spoiled. Three times I''ve used them for jewelry, and it only took 2 1/2 days all three times. So by that standard, it should''ve got there Sat....

Oh well, I know it can take longer.

I do care. You are such a doll Ellen and one of my favs. We have a lot of good PS''ers here but you are a super one!
When I sent my ring USPS certified it took 5 days to get there; I live in NM and it went to Georgia.
Waiting is the hardest part.

Aw, you makin me blush Skippy. But I think the same of you miss.

Yes, this IS hard. I just want to know it got there safely, I don''t care how long it''s actually at the jewelers....

Ellen,
Did you get the tracking option? That''s just a really cool feature to know exactly where it is for just an extra $1 or $2.

Yes, but from this and past experience, it doesn''t tell me where it is at the moment, only that it left St. Louis, and that it''s enroute. Really not much help...

Have you gotten one that actually tracks it from stop to stop??

Yup, I had one where it tracked showing 1 stop. It took a few days but yet the USPS system only showed 1 stop.
33.gif
I guess whoever does the updates isn''t very prompt.

That''s entirely possible.

If it is any consolation, USPS told me it would take 3 business days via registered mail for my old ering to get from the midwest to San Francisco. It took 13 business days, just a day shy of the 14 day "make an inquiry/file a claim" time
38.gif
. I called USPS thrice and nobody seemed to have any info (or at least that is what they told me). Their tracking system is by no means elaborate or sophisticated, or seemingly even a system, but my ring did end up where I sent it eventually. I''m crossing my fingers for ya Ellen!!

Good grief, that''s rediculously long...

And yeah, I''d like them to explain the "tracking" part. All it does is tell you when it leaves, and when it gets there. Kinda lame IMO, but maybe there''s too much stuff passing through too many hands to truly track and update eack package.

But in that case, this should just be called "delivery confirmation", as that''s all it really is.

And thanks for trying to make me feel better, it did.

EVEN BETTER, I just got an email from the jeweler, and it just arrived!

Chrono, isn't that lil guy cute?? And thanks!

Stephanie, your post made me laugh. Only because my nerves WERE frayed, badly.

Last night my youngest said, Well, if it gets lost, you can just buy another one. I had to explain. lol

I also called hubby and told him it was safe to come home after work.

Love and Sara, thanks!
