Thanks Chrono.

I have all the specks for the diamond. It is a cushion (which is what she wants). The jeweler indicated it is a perfect cut for this antique setting as traditional cushion cuts are low to mid 50s for the table and mid to high 60s for depth.

Do you agree with this? Should I keep looking? They want $7,500 for this stone.

1.5 carat
F color
1.15 (I think. I can''t read my scribble from writing in the car)
VS2
53 table
69 depth
symmetry good
polish excelent

I have some reservations. What do you think?

By the way, the weight in the ring they estimate at .5 to .6 carats.

The numbers look promising enough and I supposed you have seen the stone in person. It is true that for cushions, many aim for a smaller table (low 50s) and decent depth (mid 60s).

1. What type of cushion are you looking for? There are many different varieties from antique, to crushed ice appearance, to modern.
2. What is the lab that did the certification?
3. Any idea what is the crown height? (or least, how tall the top half is, gauging with your eyes?)
4. Have you checked this stone under natural light (away from the jeweller store lights)?
