I know I''ll probably get in trouble for asking, but...is it worth while to look at online vendors in Israel and South Africa?
I''m curious as to whether genuine good deals can be found, or if it may be "more trouble than its worth"..

In a word, NO.

There''s a reason that many many people from overseas come here for help buying from the US.

There’s something to be said for buying a stone in your home country because of familiarity with the laws, the general convenience of the deal and just plain patriotism of wishing to support your neighbors business. This gives reason for residents of Israel and South Africa to look into local sources but hardcore shoppers almost always seem to end up with the US Internet dealers because of the selection, the competition, the favorable and easy to comprehend US laws, the sensible banking system etc. Even Israelis and South Africans find they can save money by shopping here. Lately the dropping US dollar has lead a lot of overseas shoppers to come here.

If you're in the US, no, it won't gain you anything to shop overseas. If you're not in the US I would only seriously consider a supplier in Israel or SA if you are a resident of one of those places or if you otherwise already have a relationship with the dealer. There is not a financial savings to be had by this.
