Hi everyone -
You may remember that I purchased a 2 ct, asscher cut a few weeks ago (Diamond.com, really good GIA stats, a little lower crown than ideal but beautiful fire and deep concentric squares - took it to D. Atlas'' team and everything checked out way above expected, yada, yada). Well, I found the perfect setting at a local B&M store but we wanted to change the color of the gold from white/rose to white/yellow. It''s a Simon G two-tone setting with 0.25 trapazoids on the sides. Anyway, we had to have the ring custom ordered from Simon G. and we had to ship the diamond to them to set! I''m scared, I know this was probably the right thing to do to make sure the setting''s basket fits the asscher''s pavillon correctly (the ring was originally designed for a princess cut), etc. but it was terribly hard to send out a $15K diamond and only have the shipping insured. We had to sign off waivers re: damage to the diamond since we did not purchase it from that particular B&M. I trust my B&M and I know Simon G. appears reputable, but there''s always a "first time for everything".
I guess I''m hoping for some reassurance but I also want to know what my hubby should do once it gets returned from Simon G. to the store? Would an appraisal on the finished product from the B&M be good enough to know that the stone is the original one in the same shape? I won''t be able to see the final product until September when hubby gives it to me for our 10th anniversary.
We''re both nervous! TIA
