I do hate you. This is my 5 day forecast. Looking forward to shoveling out the car tomorrow.

The lack of rain/snowfall is terrifying.

Two years ago, my tangerine tree didn't bother producing fruit, like it knew there was going to be no water in advance. My bf did not go snowboarding until the last week of the season because there was no snow.

Lasts year was not as bad, but i had flowering tomato plants at the end of January. :o

This year, the weather is hot enough to rival late springs/early summer.

Expecting winter wonderland tonight and tomorrow! Everything will be closed and life will be awesome!

Yes Julie, the drought is the flip side of this balmy winter weather.

We try to do our part.
Our household sips water.
We didn't have kids.
The water I use to rinse veges gets thrown into the backyard.
Even the water that runs waiting for the arrival of hot water is collected and put in our meager 'landscaping'.
Our lawn is always just this side of brown and we are even planing on replacing it with a desert landscaping this year.

But yeah, expect food prices to skyrocket this year since California is America's breadbasket.
No water, no agriculture. :nono:

Still, I'm LOVIN this weather! :sun:

I am in the Northeast, need I say more? The weathermen are still not sure what is coming to my area tomorrow. Rain, snow, sleet, ice, gusty winds - The only thing they can agree on that the morning commute will be messy.

Kenny, it's hot as balls out. I'm not ready for summer yet!! Our lawn is dead because we stopped watering ages ago. I don't see the point of wasting water on grass that don't do anything. That grass was crappy when we moved in and no amount of water got it looking halfway decent, so it's not much of a loss. We're going full desert/native in a month or so when we put up a short wall around the front yard.

The only thing we water is our lemon and guava trees. Deep water by slow trickle, once a week. This is from one branch that fell off due to excessive weight and heat. The tree couldn't handle it.

It's 21 here now... the HIGH for the day...

Mmmmm.....lemon bars.... :lickout:

I am in Wisconsin....there is nothing good happening up here. Our high today was 19, with snow. I suppose I should be grateful though, since for the last month we have had several days of not getting above 0 and having it get down to -45 with windchill. Yuck! :knockout:

THAT'S IT. I am moving to California or Hawaii. I quit with this shit.

High 72, low 65. :D

But it will rain, for sure. A little cloudy now, but sunny 95% of the time. :sun: :sun:

I would feel sorry for the Northerners but they are mostly down here now. :?

My little neck of the woods goes from a population of a few thousand to 25,000+ in the winter.

You can't eat out, too long of a wait, the Costco lines are Ginourmous, and the traffic is bumper to bumper.

 Holy cow! What species of lemon IS that?!

Snow this am, the big fluffy makes-you-actually-like-winter flakes. Temp was upper 20's or so, pretty nice morning. I think it got to 30 or so today. Beautiful weather, for us, right now. Tomorrow and Friday it's supposed to get up around 40.

When the weather starts giving glimpses of winter ending and it's getting light when I go to work, I get soooo antsy for Spring to get here.

ILander, we have no idea what species it is. It came with the house. The skin is thin and the meat is super juicy. They're so heavy that I have to be so careful when picking them, because one time I yanked hard with the picker and a lemon shot at my eye and broke my sunglasses! We harvest about 2000 lemons two times a year and bring them to work. They disappear within minutes. My neighbors have lemon trees, but their lemons are tiny!

Our guava tree is pretty fruitful as well. This last season had about 1500-2000 guavas. A fig tree sprouted out of nowhere a few months ago, and I can't wait until it starts to fruit. :)

eta: we juice all the lemons we can and freeze them into cubes so we can have lemon juice until the next harvest. I like my nightly hot lemon and honey drink.

FK, you are so lucky.

I should plant a lemon tree.

Kenny, do you want lemons? Most of the lemons aren't ready for harvest yet, maybe in a few weeks. If you like, I can set aside a bag for you! We don't fertilize the tree with chemicals. Only some coffee grinds and a little bit of compost.

It's 52 degrees out and there is blue sky w/the sun shining right at the moment. It's perfect weather for me after last weeks freeze. I'm still waiting to see if my little plants on my porch are going to recover or not!

Sorry about your lemon tree. Hope it recovers ok. Those lemons look SO YUMMY!

How sweet of you.
Actually that would be nice.
I forget whether we have each other's email addresses.
Do you recall?

Maybe I could treat you to something frufru at a Starbucks, or to lunch.

I just emailed you. :)

FK, i knew you had small hands, but those are ginormous!

The biggest ones I get are from the Meyer tree but a lot of the size is pith.

When I shop for any citrus fruit I pick the heavy ones.
They have more juice.

Current temp: 17.6! :blackeye: School has already been cancelled for tomorrow and it looks like Friday will be as well! I can't wait to trade in, winter coats, boots, and snow shovels for bug spray, sunscreen and air conditioning!

Uh Oh!
It's 3:37 PM, and past the day's peak temp.
I feel the air turn frigid.

All day I've worn nothing but shorts and flip flops.
Time to close all the doors and windows of our house to save this heat.
Temp is expected to plummet tonight down to 53, and we have no heater.

Soon it will be cool enough for me to go outside and do some gardening.

It is a beautiful day today. I work in the I.E. and it reached 84 F at lunch today.
