I had my engagement ring sized and I think my diamond was cracked in the process.

I am happy that they are taking responsibility for this, but it still would not please me that they were not completely honest in the first place. I just am not understanding the whole "it was brought in for sizing, not the stone" deal...but it is you that needs to feel comfortable here. I am sorry that you will not have your original stone, but hopefully the new one will make you just as happy

Sparkalicious!!!!
I posted a thread because I''m going with WF for a custom setting and I didn''t buy from them. Did you buy your diamond from them and then they gave you one after they cracked yours? Or did you buy from them and they cracked a diamond they sold you and they replaced it? I''m wodering because I may cancle my custom setting and buy from they place I bought my diamond! GOG!!! HELP!

I''m glad that the jeweller is going to get your another stone. I''m still off put by the fact that they let you figure out it was cracked on your own though. I can''t wait to see what you pick from all the stone being brought in. Are they bringing in stones that are comparable in cut as well?

Red - if I remember correctly Sparkle bought the stone from WF and was having WF set it. During the setting process the stone cracked as can sometimes happen. WF replaced the stone for her. Jewellers don''t, to my knowledge, replace a stone that you just brought to have them set if the setting isn''t from them. You should have the loose stone insured before sending it for setting if the same jeweller isn''t setting the stone. If you scroll back through her old post she has a couple of threads on the original stone purchase and then the update with the broken stone.

This is all very confusing.

I''m glad you''re pleased with how they''re handling this.

However, I too don''t like the fact that they weren''t upfront about what they did to begin with. And I''m finding it a little hard to believe that the breakage occurred at the location of a VVS1 inclusion....But I guess maybe anything is possible?
