Hi there I have some diamonds in GIA VS2 range. When I look at them with a 10X loupe, I will see some tiny ''dents'' along the girdle. I believe that thats call ''natural''? I hate that as they seems to break the otherwise smooth polishing of the diamond. I do not see these ''naturals'' on the VVS and VS1 though. I am currently sourcing for a pair of VS2 earring, how do I avoid getting those with the natural? Does excellent polish means that there will be no natural on the girdle? thanks

IIRC someone recently complained that their GIA VVS1 emerald-cut pink diamond had graining and an indented natural and another natural on the girdle.
Anyone else remember that thread?
Apparently GIA considers naturals to not be a serious clarity issue.

Naturals mean they cut the heaviest possible diamond from the rough.
I think I read a while back that Garry Holloway considers naturals to be a mark of a skilled cutter, though I can understand you wanting a perfectly polished girdle.

What you see on your diamonds may be chips in the girdle.
You can avoid buying diamonds with naturals by checking the inclusion map on the report.
GIA will report them, though I'm not sure about the other labs.
