Thank you to everyone who gave me some tips in RockyTalky on this stone. I decided to go for it!

So excited!! Now to finialize a setting...

OH MY GOSH! It's beautiful! I'm so excited to see how you set it.

Do you have any ideas about the setting yet?

Thank you!
I am so excited and scared and nervous and excited!!!
I originally wanted something with bead set diamonds on the band (very thin band), but my FI really pushed the idea of a solitaire so the center stone really is the show stopper. So I think I will go with that, it grew on me! Of course I quite like Boston Jeff's ring :lickout: . Who doesn't right?!
I do know a few things: VERY thin band 1.5-2mm, dainty double prongs and I want it set fairly low to my finger. And I kind of like a basket. I want to stack bands along with it, and I want them to sit flush. So I don't really know how that will work with a setting that keeps the diamond low to my finger.
The setting will be custom made by my uncle who is a jeweler/sculptor so we'll come up with something great I hope.

Any thoughts from anyone on settings is GREATLY appreciated!!

Oh my! That sounds exciting!! :appl:
Congratulations on your beautiful diamond

Janae--Your setting ideas sound amazing! I'm biased though, as I JUST had a 2.3 OMB set in a very dainty, low-set solitaire with a pretty little basket. :cheeky: I went from wearing a 2 ct modern cushion on a blingy eternity band, so I was a bit nervous to go from that to a solitaire, but boy am I glad I did! With a stunning stone like yours, I agree that you should let it shine.

Vintagelover229 - thank you for those suggestions. I ADORE the French cuts! But I think my FI would kill me if I asked for more diamonds!! I think that look would definatly be something I would upgrade to!
I was actually thinking of maybe doing a French cut eternity band for my wedding band...

congratulations...it's beautiful! I think a solitaire setting would really show it off :)

Haven - I was actually just admiring your new setting yesterday! I typically like simple design and I was surpirsed how much I love your setting. It is truley lovely!! Vey dainty and elegant and I really love the rose gold!
Do you have pictures of your old setting on PS?

Thank you! My new ring actually looks like a simple solitaure until you peek under her skirt, so to speak. :cheeky: I'm really happy that I went with it, I was so nervous to go custom and hand forged because that meant I'd have no idea how it turned out until it was finished, but now I love it!

I absolutely love antique cuts. That one is to die for!
I would do a simple setting without side stone but perhaps some engraving? I dunno...it really is beautiful!

Beautiful Diamond!!! Congratulations, I can't wait to see it set!

to the OP: do you know if WF is stocking these antique cushions now, or did you call it in?

HI:

Oh so lovely! Congrats!

cheers--Sharon

Thank you so much everyone!! I am so happy to hear that you guys approve!! :twirl:

I cannot believe how fast Whiteflash is! They just sent me an email saying my diamond has been shipped and that I'll get it tomorrow by noon!!!!!! I am so excited I might now be able to sleep tonight or focus on any work tomorrow morning!!!

I do have a question about settings. I want the setting to be low, but I think I want it to allow my w-ring to sit flush. Any suggestions? Does Boston Jeff's style allow the w-ring to sit flush? It kind of looks like it does. I guess there's no donut?
I'm not sure if it would bother me if the bands didn't sit flush, but I am planning on wearing two stacking bands with it. What do you guys think, flush or almost flush?

Eeekkkk!!! I am so excited!

Hun this is TO DIE FOR! My dream diamond!! Gorgeous!!!

So exciting! I came back to this thread just to see if you had an update on your amazing stone!

Boston Jeff's ring is amazing, isn't it? I imagine it's possible to do anything with a custom setting, so if you want your bands to sit flush it should be possible.

Have you tried on wedding sets to see if you really prefer it when rings sit flush? I ask because I was INTENT on making sure my wedding band sat flush with my original ering, but I discovered that I really prefer the look when the rings sit a bit apart. SO, when I designed my upgrade I insisted on a donut so a ring wouldn't sit flush against it. I think this is completely about personal preference, so I would go out and try on some sets to see what you prefer.
