Hi all
I am new to buying diamonds. I have selected a diamond (I saw it and I like it, but I don’t know what I’m really looking for). It is a 1.7 round. GIA 2347696946. The color is H, it is a VS1. I’m looking to see if I’m missing anything that makes this a bad purchase. I have to say that I know nothing about measurements or girdles or anything. Any guidance would be really appreciated.

I don't know much either, but you'll be asked to provide photos + videos and such.. So ask for them from the vendor asap.

Welcome. You've come to the right place for advice. The specs for this one don't meet the generally acceptable requirements for "PS quality" (see below). It is deeper than recommended (meaning it won't face up as large as well cut 1.7ct) and the angles don't pair well. Did you run the specs through the HCA calculator under the tools tab above? Diamonds with scores of 2 or less (in some cases up to 2.5) are promising. Then post the lab reports, pics, videos, any advanced images you are able to get (request Hearts & Arrows, ASET and IS Images from the retailers). GL!

Table: 54-58
Depth: 60-62.4
Crown Angle: 34-35.0
(35 pairs best with a pavilion angle of 40.6/CA can go up to 35.5 if the Pavilion Angle is 40.6)
Pavilion Angle: 40.6-41
(41 pairs best with CA of 34)

Amazing advice!
