I’m a cluster-lover. Would it be terrible to replace the center stone?

I couldn't care less about period appropriate. All I know is that I would pop that pearl out immediately and replace it with a bright, juicy pop of color. Sapphire, emerald, ruby, pink spinel…really, any color will look amazing in there. I find all diamond rings look kind of boring for me, but I am a colored gem gal so I guess that’s to be expected.

If you’ve seen @mrs-b new peridot cluster, you‘ll see exactly what I mean. Diamonds and CS gems are a match made in heaven.
Btw. Congrats on your new ring. It is gorgeous and absolutely blintastic! :kiss2:

Gorgeous Cluster ring! Although the pearl is lovely I would also look into removing it to replace with another stone. A pop of color would be nice or even a white diamond to take the place of the pearl. I have a oversized old cut cluster ring that is all diamonds and I do love it but have seen some fabulous clusters with a colored stone center and really like those as well. Good luck with your decision, can't wait to see what you decide :)

What a gorgeous find!! I’ll agree that if you don’t love the pearl, replace it with something you do like. When I was designing my ring, I went with a low color OEC (O-P; it has a yellowish tint) and set in in yellow gold to enhance the color. I gives the center stone a distinct look so that all diamonds don’t blend together—not that there is anything wrong with having all the diamonds blend together for a huge BLING effect! Just something to consider.

My 2 cents :
I would leave the pearl or replace it with a light colored stone or a diamond , Because of the double halo , the pearl space looks small and a dark colored stone will draw the eyes to it . I think the proportion of the center and the halo may not match .

Yes, I agree. You make an excellent point. Thanks.

A sugarloaf big 3 (sapphire, ruby, or emerald) or even a juicy tourmaline or garnet would be great in there. I think something colorful and rounded would be great contrast to all the diamonds.

Ok! Went to my ‘local’ today and we popped out the pearl. The diamonds are the most sparkly I’ve ever seen, and it just makes me want more! So we found a 1.04 ct oec in her inventory that looks great with the other stones. They are really white—the G we popped in first looked a bit yellow, so this is a F as graded in house. It’s going to GIA then will get set. Woo hoo! 3220F3F6-F1BD-4DD0-9E80-E52A5495A5AF.jpeg

I am glad you chose to go with a diamond center, I think you will love the continuity(I really love mine) and am super excited to see this finished, it will be a fabulous disco ball on your finger :)

I have it. The nacre was abraded and…well spotty. Would you like it ?

Can the pearl be a natural pearl? Just wondering why anyone would use such an expensive setting otherwise?

The halo is stunning. Good catch!

Thanks! I’d have to send it to a lab to be sure, but looking in the drill hole, it doesn’t look it. It was listed as cultured by the vendor, too. I got a new-to-me camera today, a Canon 5D ii, so once I get it set up with the macro lens, I will post a picture. It’s a fair question, because the ring looks like it was made for the pearl.

Awesome camera! Careful -- they do not float in case are wondering. That is how I moved on to my (very used) 5D MkIV. (Wit, maybe it was my 6D that sank.)

Thank you for the kind pearl offer. I know your will take good care of her!

It’s a dreary day here, but my dinner plate ring still sparkles like crazy! The oec I bought from my local came back as a circular brillant, F VS1 from GIA. I’m wearing the cluster as I picked it up today, next to my D VS2. Don’t have a less-colored old cut ring, so this will be a new experience. 1D1898E2-F6D6-42C0-A1A3-09D1C6B0AD4D.jpeg
