Hunting for a mount like this:

I am hunting for a mount to replace my stolen engagement ring. My ring was stolen last December and I've finally come to terms with not getting it back and have moved on to replacing it. I need some help, though! I've been hunting for months now and have been woefully undecided about a setting. I have a diamond - 5.5 mm transitional cut, F colour, VS1. My original looked like this:

I am hoping to stay under $400 for the mount and prefer white gold or platinum. It needs to have some milgrain or engraving for a vintage look. I love the delicate and airy look of this mount. My ring size is 5-5.5. I would like reasonable quality for daily wear and a narrow shank. Some vintage rings strike me as clunky or not refined and I won't choose one like that. I'm very open to pre-loved to stay within budget. I would also love floral settings like CvB's Dahlia (way out of budget!) or a vintage cathedral setting with milgrain.

This was on DB a while back, would've been perfect but I missed it:

Thanks for your help!! I've searched eBay and looked at Ivy and Rose and I haven't found "the one" yet.

Let me take a look. Hmmm

Thanks Niel! Very pretty and definitely on the right track. Would it be ok for me to make an offer so low? I guess all they can say is no..

Thanks daintyG. It's a pretty mount but I haven't jumped on it because it's a bit low to the hand for me and the leaves are pointing the wrong way. Just doesn't look right to my eye. I also prefer the diamond a bit higher on my hand so it catches my eye.

It never hurts ! I've gotten things from offering even when they don't have an obo so I don't think you couldn't offer 400

I added another setting to my previous post where the leaves point toward the stone. It's also low.

David Klass made this ring. You can email him about price and if he can make it in a prong setting. You may just want to tell him your budget and see if any modifications can be done (like making a prong head instead of bezel) to put it more into your budget.

I'd not get your hopes up as a basic solo is typical more than your budget with him.

Never hurts to ask, I just wanted to set realistic expectations

Yeah, I was thinking it'd cost less without the engraving or the bezel head. Not sure how close that would get to the budget, though.

I think that setting would still be at least $1200 from DK. A quote for a solitaire for my pear was about $1k.

Oh, ok. Guess I'm underestimating here. :read:

Thanks so much all! I will look through the options tonight. I also found these and would be love comments or suggestions:

Also considering a simpler solitaire - I can access stuller settings through Adam at Bill LeBoeuf...the popular crown setting or I'd be interested in a solitaire with a floral head like the Dahlia...

I prefer the gold one and the white gold vintage floral one. I don't think the yellow gold one from. Idjewelry will fit your stone. The other one may.

The second photo, I believe is from blue Nile. If they haven't disclosed that, I believe they are not being truthful and using BN pics as their own.

I love that third one along (I'm a sucker for fishtail prongs tho!) - if it will fit your stone, it would look great since the side stones are OECs/transitionals so will match the facet pattern.

I like the third one best. The second one--I'm also wondering about if the picture is of the actual item you'd get. Who's the seller?

I actually bought the following setting for my 5.5 mm OEC. I intended to reset my OEC into this setting, but I ended up being able to just sell the OEC in the ring it was in. I buffed it up with a polishing cloth before I sent it back when I returned it. I think this is a pretty ring--a little unusual with the markings on the sides, but that intrigued me somewhat. Anyway, it should fit your stone and your finger.
