So my partner was ripping up old flooring, doing DIY as hes bored lol and found this ring under the old flooring amongst dirt and dust , i gave it a good soak, Stones look terrible, do you think it's real diamonds? Dont know what to do with it ,lol as stones are so bad! Nice setting though!

Have it tested after the lockdown.

Pawn shops will test for free if you tell them you are considering to pledge it etc...

DK :))

Any hallmarks on the setting?

If nothing else, gold is at a high right now, so you could get $ for it. It is a nice mounting. I don't know how you cleaned it but I would suggest you boil water in the microwave and then pour in a dish with some Dawn dishwashing liquid (swish it around) and soak overnight. Then take small soft brush and give it a good scrub. If they are real diamonds, they definitely do not appear from the photo to have warmth so it will be interesting to see what they are. I'm so curious about how the ring got there! Have you lived there a long time? Do you know how many previous owners there were for that property?

That's a pretty cool story and in decent shape considering where it was.

I know! I thought my partner was joking with me until he showed me it! It seems quite heavy. And the stones are quite big too! Just one owner before me, they moved abroad I think . I moved into my house 10 years ago. I've stuck it in a dish of boiling water with some fairy liquid thats all I had. What will that do? Just give it a good clean? X

Do you have a loupe? I’m wondering if the stones are cracked. Diamonds are strong but brittle.

Soak in in dawn and just boiled water.

I dont have a loupe, I need to buy one! Would come in handy to have :)

Well I soaked it overnight and gave it s gentle scrub. Looks like the cloudiness is defo inside the stone. So is this an i3? Is their anything I can do with it or will I just pawn it?

I would get a loupe and check out the stones. I think they could have potential--but I own some included stones--so I am probably in the minority thinking this here... Depending on what they look like under the loupe, I would remove them from the setting and then find a purpose for them.

Potential for what? My partner used his diamond tester and it tested postive for real diamonds.

To look better in a different piece of jewelry. No setting will transform them into perfect stones but they could be wearable/enjoyable depending on your standards. Depends on what is there under loupe though...if there are cracks then no.

I actually quite like this but then I tend to be drawn by cool stories and history. I like it as is, I do like the setting and would defo not break it. Sure the stones are included but they have character and are quite large, hey you found it and it cost you nothing, right? Why don’t you enjoy it and wear it as an everyday or travel ring, etc. Depends on whether you can live with inclusions. I personally own some I stones and they can look very beautiful in the right setting. Yes these have clouds, perhaps a professional cleaning would help a bit more but then so many ladies wear their rings dirty which look no better. Just my two cents.:)))

I too thought of reaching out to the previous owners if you can contact them. The problem is you would have to not tell them you found a ring but ask if they lost anything because there are a lot of people who would dishonestly take a free ring.

I get what you mean, the stones are big....wonder how many carats it is. The clouds in it bother me unforunatley and the ring doesnt fit me anyway.

I also wouldn’t be opposed to wearing it as is either. But my first thought is the sides could be earrings and the center could be something else...pendant...I don’t know, but I would probably be thinking about a setting that actually emphasizes the imperfections. Maybe I have been looking at too many salt and pepper diamonds lately.

Yes! Ask if lost anything, describe it and preferably, have photos to back it up.

Maybe contact the real estate agent(s) or escrow company and ask them to contact the previous owner of the property.

Weren't you looking for something exactly like this ring a week or so ago? In which case, how lucky your partner found this one! Seriously spooky!

Whoa! Are we sure your partner found it under the floorboards?

Yes but then changed my mind, I thought my partner had set me up lol.

This is what I am wondering? How crazy to find a ring you were just asking about!

Yeah I was but changed my mind, and I'm saving up for a nice one. It is very strange as I thought my partner had put it their on purpose, but dont think he would. I'm going to get in touch with the estate agency to see if I can get hold of the previous owners. It may have been loved and missed by someone else.

I lost my WB in my last house. I told the current owners; it’s been 15 years. Sometimes I dream it finally surfaces!

Maybe contact the real estate agent(s) or escrow company and ask them to contact the previous owner of the property.

The property records of deed transfers too. In the US it is mostly online by each state.
