How Would You Set This Small Faint Pink Diamond?

She's small at .36ct and that seems to be where the problem lies. I was thinking a ring, maybe a halo...What do you guys think?

It is such a sweet pastel colour. When one considers the 4.5 mm size, I’m worried that either the melees in the halo has to be teeny tiny specks to be proportion to the pink diamond otherwise it’ll end up overpowering the stone and instead of making it appear larger, it might accentuate the small size. What I’d do is have it gypsy set into a wide band or bezel set which both will make it look larger than it really is.

If you could do micropave stones around it, a halo might be pretty. While I like the halo look, for some reason that's never my first thought. I would go with either a bezel set or prong set solitaire in rose gold - or even a 3-stone in rose gold, provided the side stones were small enough to not overpower the center.

How about like something like autumngems aqua ring? Anyone have a photo of that one?

You could do sort of a cigar band style siolitaire in rose gold. The gold could be left shiny or done matt or engraved.

What about a bypass with a white diamond of the same size? Or stacked with two smaller diamonds on each side going up and down the finger. Smaller diamond on top, pink one in the middle and smaller diamond below.

I would probably do a bypass or bezel stacker. Pretty little stone-I like the color a lot!

I think doing a three stone bezel with this stone in rose gold and two high white diamonds in white gold or platinum bezels will play up the color the best and give you good finger coverage. good luck!

mokume gane all the way, baby! seriously, as a stacker or a band with a bezel....even a tension set. mokume gane is going to make this pale stone sit up and be noticed.

Pink gold basket, surrounded by tiny white diamonds in white gold That will really make the pink stand out. I have a light pink diamond, around 4.6 mm, that I'm going to set that way as well.

36 points is not small for a pink diamond, and you'll be surprised how large it looks once set.

Chrono: I think you are right about the meele's over powering the center. I am really on a halo kick right now :cheeky:

I hadn't thought about gypsy setting it...hmm might be interesting. I did think about bezel, but I wanted some nice bling in the setting as well. Do you know of anyone that sells bezel settings with stones in the bands? Or should I try to keep this simple?

lavatea: Thanks for the suggestions :wavey: Do you think a diamond of this size would have enough presence in a solitaire? I did look at a lotus setting, but I am concerned the diamond is too small. For a 3-stone would other RB's be the best option?

innerkitten: More great suggestions :appl: I do have a 4.55mm E/SI1 RB Ideal that I haven't been able to seem to find a project for.

packrat: Thanks, I really liked the color too. It was a bit of an impulse buy

Man, lots of options...I think I am more confused now than before

Sniven,
Are you looking for something off the shelf or custom? I have a 6 mm OEC that is bezeled with some bling in the band and basket/under bezel. Some melees here and there is never a bad idea.

Ok, if I did a three stone should the other 2 diamonds be the same size or smaller than the pink? I already have one nice white that is the same size...I could pick up another. Would the white diamonds wash out some of the pink or would they make her pop!

mokume gane? off to google.

iota15: That is something like I had in mind initially, beautiful blue

Chrono: Preferably off the shelf...do you have a pic of that wonderful sounding ring?

I like bling and I make no apoligies

Okay I just saw you said off the shelf. Maybe the size won't matter with the other two. You could do the pink one in pink gold and the others in white if you like mixing metals. Of course as stack rings they can be worn together or apart or with other bands.

I wish I know a neater way of posting links.

Sorry for the minor threadjack. Link neatness directions can be found here.

I have found green and orange bring pink out. Is it just my eyes? When I see green/pink, or orange/pink I see the pink pop more. Just a thought.

I think it would be fine as a solitaire, but I like smaller stones (or is it just that I can afford smaller stones? :cheeky: ). I especially like the idea of a bezel-set solitaire with pave on the band. If I did 3-stone, I think RBs would be best.

Sniven,
Unfortunately, my ring was custom made and not off the shelf so that wouldn’t work. A double halo for a round might be custom too, especially if you want a rose gold basket and white for the melees.

Not sure. Are you thinking of something like the stacking bands on this page? http://www.zfolio.com/jewelry/barbara-heinrich/barbara-heinrich-intro.aspx

Or all in one ring like this ? http://www.langantiques.com/products/item/30-91-1873

This is pretty with scrolls. http://www.jewelryexpert.com/catalog/Amazing-Scrolls-Pink-Diamond-Ring.html

I wish I know a neater way of posting links.

Sniven, I apologize for the threadjack...

innerkitten, do you have anything from "jewelry expert"? Their scroll work is amazing and I was wondering what their products were like in real life.

Sniven - pretty diamond.

I have set a number of sub-carat pink diamonds and ALWAYS set them in rose gold (I can hear people fainting all over the place)! My avatar for example is a good example. The stone in the centre is a pink diamond. Here are some photos - a halo works well and you really see the contrast from the pink to white. What an exciting project - I can't wait to see the result. In the meantime, here are some photos and I hope they help.

Gorgeous stone! I'd set it in a rose gold lotus setting and wear it as a stacker.

Here's the lotus setting if you haven't seen it yet (it's made by Sally at Heart of Water Jewels on Etsy). This one is a white topaz in yellow gold, but it gives you an idea of the size/proportions:

This is another really pretty setting Sally designed for smallish stones:

If those aren't your style, I like Chrono's suggestion of a gypsy-setting it into a wide band (or a wide bezel band like the Tiffany Etoile style).

Double halo with pink gold!

Babynurse, they don't use outside stones so I haven't used them. But from the photos on their site it looks like they do really nice work. I occasionally browse the designs for fun.

WOW! Thank you everyone sooo much for your responses :)

This is exactly why I prefer the CS forum, on RT there would have been arguments over ASET, Idealscopes, light return and the comparison of GIA to AGS. You guys provide your opinion(s) and are always kind, curtious are respectful. THANK YOU! :appl:

I did some searching last night and I really like the idea of a bezel with bling. I love this setting: http://rockdiamond.com/index.php/je...shank-version-made-to-fit-your-diamond-so3232

or

I could go with my intial instinct of a halo and others sugestions of a double halo and get this: http://rockdiamond.com/index.php/je...num-double-halo-ring-custom-made-large-so3271

But at $3995 and $4900 they are a little (A LOT!) over my budget for this project  :blackeye: :nono:

I might send them an email anyway, just to see what they say.

Has anyone worked with DBL before? or do you know of a vendor that makes similar settings?

LD: what are the specs on that second picture? the round pink ring

What a fun project you are working on!

I Have worked with David at DBL on many occasions and have always been pleased with the quality of their work!!!

His pricing varies with the amount of customization used and of course materials used. I recently received pricing on a 3 stone bezel set ring in a RG/WG combo, one of the options that I was quoted would be to use CAD/CAM and I thought the pricing was extremely good. So depending on what you want I would definitely give David a call and speak with him about your project and budget and see what might work for you!

As noted already, I would also suggest with a faint pink color diamond in a round cut(rounds tend not to show color as strongly as other cuts), I would definitely set it in RG with high color white diamonds(melee or side stones) to help boost the color :)

Can't wait to see the finished project!
