I am not usually indecisive when it comes to settings, however, I am torn about how to set my 9mm JW Rubellite. This is my first JW stone and the first to be set, and about time too as it was purchased years ago!

On one hand, I believe it deserves a grand setting, and have thought of a convertible ring-pendant design. However, it is so grand that I may only wear it as a ring or pendant occasionally. The ring will be worn on my left hand middle finger.

The other option is to set it in a simpler air gap halo ring setting with no millgrain, to be worn on my LH ring finger.

Which would you choose, or opt for something different?

Here are my setting inspirations.

Thanks for everyone's help in advance.

The stone itself (I could not access my stored images on PS when I was creating the new thread for some reason), Jeff's glamour shot at the top, the other two are my own pics.

Not gonna lie, I really love that first flower ring setting. :kiss2:

So do I, and this stone is worthy of such a grand setting IMHO.

I originally planned for it to be part of an interchangeable pendant bail project, however, I have changed my mind.

Me too! That would be a freakin awesome ring. :appl:

Indeed, and I am still leaning towards the ring-pendant design, as I no longer have a grand pendant anymore.

The pendant is likely to be a slider rather than one with a bail.

I think they changed their name to be David Michael now, but their work continues to be mind blowing and amazing. Sadly they are $$$$, but yes they are #goals for all flower rings.

And I agree a flower design would be amazing with this stone!

I remember pinkjewel's ring well, it is a masterpiece for certain.

I love the flower setting! It is fabulous. Personally I would go grand!

Grand and glam is winning!

I have asked my contact whether it would be possible to make a brooch setting that can take the flower head, just a simple one with leaves and branches with no stones, hopefully, it will not add too much to the overall cost of the project.

I decided against making a bangle setting to go with the flower head, as I am unlikely to wear CS on my wrist, and shall stick with white metal and diamonds/simulants etc...

@lovedogs that is a gorgeous flower ring setting! :kiss2:

@TL and @Acinom your rings are gorgeous, thanks for sharing! :kiss2:

After careful considerations, I have finally submitted my brief to the bench for this stone, and decided on an air gap flower halo ring for my left hand ring finger.

The reason for this is that, the convertible flower ring pendant is too grand for my lifestyle nowadays, and it will not get much wear as ring or pendant.

Here is the brief to the bench.

I am about to commit to this project and am still undecided on the setting, as I really really want a ringdent!

I LOVE the flower setting!

Decision made - it will be a flower ring pendant!

Whatever setting I choose, it is not going to be a everyday piece, that much is certain.

Therefore, I may as well go big and opt for a convertible ring pendant!

Even my contact at the bench said he preferred the flower ring pendant design over the cluster halo which is too small as a pendant for me.

Hopefully, it will be ready by the end of September if not early October!

Soo exciting! I love the idea of a flower ring pendant! I adore convertible jewelry.

Can't wait to see it, it's a beautiful stone!

Full payment sent, and the stone is on its way to the bench, along with other stones that I would like to set.

Impatiently waiting for the first CAD for the flower ring pendant to be sent to me.

Back to the drawing board!

The first CADs have come through, and they do not wow me.

I have serious concerns about the ring pendant setting being too glamorous/elaborate/OTT, which means it may not have many opportunities to be worn both as a ring and a pendant, as opportunities to bling up is far and between nowadays.

In addition, the overall height of the ring is very high, which is not helped by the Rubellite being such a deep stone.

I have requested for it to be made as low as possible, however, I suspect it would still be too high for my liking.

Therefore, I may have to abandon the ring pendant setting idea, and go back to the air gap flower halo, so that I could get more wear per cost out of it.

Not giving up yet.
