I love great settings...but I do like what AL did with buying the stone first then figuring out the setting. You feel the pressure to find both a great stone and a great setting because you just want to WEAR your darn ring already. But that can force you into decisions. OR if you know what you want already, then go for it! I really like elaborate settings as well but don't like the exhorbitant price tag that comes with many of them. Check out www.antiqueengagementrings.com , they have some great settings that are reasonably priced. FayCullen also has some engagement ring mountings you may like and they aren't that pricey either. In my opinion a ring like Tacori is overpriced for what you get. I got a custom ring for less than most of their stuff and with the same amount of stones and it's not a typical setting. So if you are going to spend ALOT..think about getting it custom. Also some custom pieces don't have to be an arm and a leg...some can be very reasonable. So you DO have alot of options without having to shell out $2-3k to get a beautiful setting. I would still advocate focusing more on the stone first then figuring out the setting possibly later. I *adore* the Fine Line by LE setting as well and it is so cheap and looks BEAUTIFUL. I would definitely consider that as an interim setting...in case you go that route.
