How to set a rose cut diamond

What's the best way of setting a rose cut diamond? I don't like the idea of using a foil backing and it doesn't look like companies like Bayco or Kwiat use any backing.
But without one, will you see the finger through the stone?
 
I think whether or not you can see the finger depends on the stone.

I know someone who has a rose cut ring who has a decorative undergallery, like this: diamond-ring-undergallery-wink-custom-design-2.jpg
You can't really see it clearly from the top, but it adds a little extra something.

Yes, without a backing, you will definitely see your finger through the center of the rose-cut. Some people aren't bothered by this at all, and I think others live with it because they so value the other unique attributes of rose-cuts.

If you are going custom with your ring setting, your jewelry designer may have some ideas to address this.
