How to resell a platinum setting?

So I purchased a custom setting from a vendor and a 1ct diamond from enchanted diamonds. I planned to return these. While I am able to return the diamond, I found out that I am unable to return the setting because it's custom and they have just begun work on it.

I do need some funds asap due to some circumstances, and I'm curious...

What's the best way to go about trying to sell this?
Is it possible to even do so?

My apologies if this question is in the wrong section.

It's a size 6 in platinum and looks fantastic, and retails for $3800 at enchanted:

On the site, it says that it is returnable within 30days. I would call enchanted again and insist on a a refund unless you can find documentation or unless you requested custom modifications.

You can list it in the secondary market, but you will be lucky if you get 50% of what you paid for it. Loupe troop, diamond bistro and pre-loved forum here are good places to start.

Yes, do be firm with the vendor as you will lose a lot of money re selling it because the other issue is that it’s not at all resizable and you will have to find / wait for a size 6 finger purchaser.
Hope your u can get a full refund.

@tr0janman I also just saw your comment that the setting is not even completed. I would absolutely demand a refund. The ring is not even finished!!

OP says the ring is custom, so I am guessing they are making mods to an existing setting at a minimum. It’s unfortunate, but I don’t know of any vendors who offer refunds on custom work, especially when it’s not a craftsmanship issue. Good luck, OP; maybe sharing your circumstances with the vendor would earn you some favor and a compromise can be reached.

You need to demand a refund. That's total BS that they can't refund. Insist on it!

D773743E-EA2B-46D4-9BB9-C2A678DA2711.jpeg Dear OP, the link you provided of your setting choice clearly shows on the page that “Return / Exchange” is 30 days.
Don’t let them tell you any different.
Your ring isn’t a “custom design” for which their would be no refund, it is a standard design of theirs which they do make to suit your diamond.
You can tell them that their website page, upon which you made your decision to purchase the setting, clearly shows that the “Return / Exchange” policy is 30 days and therefore you expect them to adhere to their published policy because otherwise their behaviour is purposely misleading and deceptive and you’ll be taking the matter further - here in Australia we have a Consumer Affairs dept that handles these disputes, I’m sure you have in the US a similar body that handles consumer complaints.

I appreciate you taking the time to look through this with me; helping me figure out this situation together. As each of you have suggested, I have continued to discuss with the owner of Enchanted Diamonds. He has agreed to provide me with a refund due to it saying 30-Day Return. It appears that this was a mistake on his website, and he will very likely be changing this moving forward.

Kudos to the owner, Joshua, for being so understanding of my circumstances and being true to his message on his site.

But to each of you, Thank you so much. You've really helped me out, gotten me out of a sudden pickle, and I'm so grateful to you awesome strangers.

@tr0janman this is such wonderful update! Really great to hear that Enchanted Diamonds worked with you and stood by the current advertisement on their site.

I am sorry that you had to return this beautiful ring at this time and hope that everything resolves for you!

Glad it worked out for you OP. I’m curious, did you “customise” one of their designs beyond selecting metal type and other drop down selections available on the website? (As mentioned, not this is not actually custom) Ie add unique features of your own to the design? Which part of the refund policy are they planning to amend due to this “error”?

Glad you got the situation resolved. It’s precisely because of this type of issue that we take screenshots of anything we order, so that if there’s any dispute or the vendor changes their terms after we’ve ordered, we’ve got proof of the conditions at the time of order.

That design is actually a custom one on their site, you can only reach it or find it on the customization page. If you go to the regular setting page, you cannot find that particular setting. It seems they have some "standard" in-stock rings, and some specialty "custom" rings that are made to order. They just reused the same template for the made to order ones as the standard ones, but I am sure they will change it soon.

@Lovesparklesparle @Forgiven888 That is correct. Looking at the advertisement, it sounds like all of their settings are "made to order" in NY so to speak. However, yes, these can only be reached in the "design a custom setting" section of the site.

The way I had to order it was via the live chat widget on the side and speaking directly with the owner.
