how do you interpret the symbols on your certification map? Mines from IGI..

Can you post it?

I will see if hubby can scan it for me. i''ll post it once he''s done that.

i''m just wondering if the symbols themselves are indicitive of a particular type of inclusion.

There is no key to symbols, so it's hard to determine what the inclusions are. I'm unfamiliar with IGI symbols, but I'm guessing that the larger symbols represent included crystals, and the small line may represent a feather. In any case, they are within the star and bezel facets rather than right under the table or on the girdle edge.

So if the diamond only has these 3 or four inclusions that are only seen with 10x magniffication, why wouldn''t it be graded vs1?

I''ve seen the two larger inclusions under a scope and they look like little bubbles to me.

I''m presuming its a good thing that they are placed where they are or else it would be downgraded a step or two in the clarity?

Also, for such a small carat stone would it be worth eventually recutting to maximize it's brilliance and fire? It is a little deeper than would be prefered I've gathered.

ETA: It already fires and sparkles so much more than my old stone i just stare at it...

If it's eyeclean, then why worry about VS1 vs. VS2?--the VS2 grade lowered the price for you. The size of the inclusions and number of them could be a factor--another grader might deem it SI1--clarity grading does have a subjective element.

If you can't see the inclusions--I wouldn't worry about it. They don't appear to pose a risk to the stone.

I wouldn't recut a 47point stone.

ty for the info...i appreciate it.
