How to create a hyperlink?

I''ve tried following the instructions in the help section but it never seems to work. Can anyone tell me what I''m doing wrong?

Just type [a href="WEBSITE URL"]LINK TEXT[/a] with "[" and "]" replaced by "" respectively.

For example, [a href="http://www.pricescope.com"]Pricescope[/a] (with appropriate delimiters changed) produces Pricescope.
