I'm done, I want it down today!

Ours is already down!

My tree is still fresh and drinking water, so he's staying up for a while yet.

The weekend after NYE. I like the bright lights and festive look of the trees, but the family doesn't like the room being re arranged for too long (!!), so mine is coming down Jan 4th.

I didn't have a tree this year. Our new house is smaller than the last one and I couldn't find anywhere to put it. I regret that now. If I did have a tree I would be wanting it down by now though. By boxing day i'm wishing I could put it all away till next year :))

Both DH and I come from families that have traditionally kept the tree until the Feast of the Epiphany. I believe this year that's the 6th so it will be up until the weekend after that when I can get to it.
One year we had an artificial tree on the lanai all year. I just switched out the decorations, hearts , shamrocks, Easter eggs... Red white and blue, pumpkins.....
It rotated back to Christmas and then we tossed it!

HI:

Jan 1. Although it is still soft....kinda makes me feel guilty for pitching it....

cheers--Sharon

Just finished taking it down! I was hating how crowded it made the room. I put a string or two of lights on the fireplace all winter to keep up the cheer of the lights!

I'm taking it down this Saturday (Jan 4)…I like having it up for New Years, and I won't be able to get to it until then anyway.

Just finished packing away all the ornaments last night, taking down trees and greenery tonight. I'm ordering Valentine's Day photo cards tomorrow! Soooo ready for the New Year.

I find it a bit strange that so many of you have taken it down before New Year's. Isn't New Year's still part of the holidays? How can you experience the holidays without the tree? My family also keeps it up until the feast of the Epiphany. The Epiphany marks the end of the twelve days of Christmas - December 25th to January 6.

Sigh. Mine went up the 23rd & came down the 26th. Before Joey the Terminator Cat pulled it down, already nude. Wouldn't you think a 10-yr-old cat would have outgrown throwing ornaments off onto the floor for the dog to chew and climbing the tree at night when nobody will scold him? By the 26th, the branches were all smished & I'd thrown away about 8 destroyed decorations. This year it seemed like I was missing an ornament box -- realized then that I've thrown away that many in the past decade of Joe Don. Hissssss!

took mine down yesterday.. had it up for 3 weeks.. time for New Years!

:!: :!:

Added: my mom used to put up the tree after my bday - 12/15 and take it down before my sisters bday 1/7 when I finally grew up and had a tree (34) I put my tree up beginning of December because I love the thanksgiving to christmas holiday time.. love when it's long vs the shorter time... it was a drag having a bday 10 days before xmas because my mom wanted to ensure that I had a 'special' day, (no lights in the house, no santa, no nativity scene nothing to do with christmas) (hahahaha anyone born from 11/25 to 1/6 has a christmas bday.. just the nature of the beast).. my mom always said that it came down on little christmas evening (day before big sis bday).. as I have become less traditional christian and much more spiritual I don't worry about the little christmas thing..

Happy New year!

ours was down by 8:30 Thursday morning.

I am experiencing them regardless of having a tree up or down, trust me. ;))

I usually take it down the weekend after the 1st...I will probably start working on it on New Years day...

Great idea, you are making me think about doing just that.

Our tree, which ususally goes up the weekend after Thanksgiving, didn't go up until the weekend before Christmas this year, VERY late for us. I'll probably keep it up until Epiphany.

It is a real tree in a pot that we keep outdoors and bring in each Christmas - kind of a Charlie Brown tree so not very tall or very full - this year, we brought it in a week before Christmas and will keep it inside at least til Day of Epiphany - sometimes we even keep it inside through Valentine's Day (our anniversary) but if so I usually tweak the decorations.

In our family we usually keep the Christmas tree until Epiphany. I'm lazy so I'll take it down when I feel like it.

I took Christmas down yesterday. But our garbage service won't take trees until the 6 th so the tree is standing naked in our living room until then.

LOL
Mine stays up until New Years Day, then comes down in the week following.

My goal is always to have the tree and everything put away no later than Dec 31. But this year my husband is out of town this evening and tomorrow, and he needs to deal with the lights and the undecorated tree, so I am thinking it will be New Year's Day or the day after before everything is back to normal.

I always take my down on Jan 1st so I am enjoy it lit right now.

Both of mine are down. They are very heavy and it's hard for just H and I get both trees up the stairs and into our storage room. One tree goes up completely decorated (!!) and the other one is bagged but still standing. So while our son was home, I had to work fast to get both trees down!

I am in the epiphany camp that's when it will come down. I love having new years with the tree up.

We are planning to take it down sometime this week. Perhaps tomorrow if we have the time. This year we put it up early so it has been up for a few weeks already and I am ready for it to come down. Lots of needles all over and the cats keep knocking ornaments off LOL.

I will probably take all the stuff down today. I am ready and sick of it. I love the feeling of putting the house back in order for the new year. Next year, I am going to spend the year making christmas quilts. I hope it will simplify things a bit.

We just took ours down. I'm exhausted. We tend to go a little crazy with the decorations and then when it comes time to take them down, I always regret it. :snore: but, at least now I can relax and watch football.

We normally leave ours up for New Year's, but our tree was real and this year we had good weather for getting the tree outside before NYE, so it went early. Plus for some reason it was shedding needles really bad this year. I think the place we usually buy trees started using a new (and worse) supplier.
