I have found myself totally blocking traffic on several occasions with these puppies on
... whooops!
So the boring part... I had a massive Superbowl style ring with a 1.6 ct (Transitional/ Round brilliant) stone in the center. Since getting engaged I find that it is too big and really clashes with my e-ring. At around the same time I developed this totally ALL CONSUMING itch to have bigger stud earrings.... don't know where I got that idea... *ahem PS* .... Anywhooo, one night lying in bed trying to fall asleep an idea hit me! I would take the center stone from my Superbowl ring and use it as one of the stones for my stud earrings! (like I said -ALL CONSUMING! lol) ...my fiance got really nervous because I literally shot up out of bed announcing to no one - "OMG I figured it out! I know what I am going to do!" ok now I am rambling..
So next came the task of finding its perfect mate. Well my budget wasn't very large for what I really wanted
... but after a few months of saving ( + birthday and christmas umm fund increases...) I could finally start really looking for a matching stone! It was extremely difficult as my current stone was transitional-ish and as such was quite deep and had a pretty high crown and smallish table... So long story short I had 3 different stones sent to me by two PS vendors and the third one was as close to a perfect match as I will probably get!!!
I got the stone from JA and they were awesome! my SA was the best! I changed my mind after receiving the first stone and I sent the stone back (they paid for shipping!) to exchange for another one. The whole process took less than a week AND they were able to get it to me right before the new year! I don't even know how that is possible especially during the busy Christmas/New Year season
... but I like it!
I must also say that this was the biggest online purchase I have EVER made and pricescope made it all possible because without all the wonderful PSers writing about the vendors I would have NEVER felt confident enough to buy something of this nature online. I feel this is important for anyone else who is thinking about purchasing online JA.
Ok on to the good stuff
My Original stone (Uncerted but appraised by independent appraiser)
1.6 ct J color Transitional (7.54 x 7.52 x 4.7
New Stone
1.57ct Ex/Ex/Ex K VS1 (7.42 x 7.44 x 4.62) - it's a hair smaller but cant really tell the difference in the setting
Table: 55%
Depth: 62.2%
Crown: 35.5 (it was so hard to find a stone with a nice high crown)
Pavilion: 40.6
The setting is a BGD 8 prong setting. I asked my jeweler to try to sort of curve (taper?) the prongs a little bit rather than just setting it as is. I'm not really sure if it made any difference but it looks good to me!
Wow I just wrote a novel... ok so on to the GOOD STUFF! PICTUREESSS!!!!
