(Sigh). It's not that you are discussing feathers that is the problem, Featherstone -- er, Firestone - there are literally dozens of threads on feathers, it is hardly a topic that is avoided here. The problem is the views you are positing about feathers are just wrong. And you've been told that dozens of times by a variety of experts in the field -- not just one expert, several.

You're tilting at windmills at this point.

ETA: Just read Ella's post. And, in sum, I'll just say that yes, it is possible to find an eyeclean SI 2, even one with feathers.

Firestone - I deleted the post for a reason, I'd appreciate it if you would respect that.

Back to the topic at hand.

Lorelei You are getting a run for your money these days.

I think that the expert opinions on feathers are very clear in the document that Lorelei linked, and from the comments that Coati, a GG, posted as well, and from Rockdiamond''s posts too. Firestone I suspect that you prefer IF stones. That is fine. But it does not make feathers inherently dangerous.
i''m ready my Brit gf... just let me know WHEN!!

I have the most beautiful eye-clean 1.58 carat I SI2 from BGD! The inclusions are twinning wisps. They are ugly on the plot but my appraiser really had to magnify them to see them in the diamond. I couldn''t be happier with this stone.

Here is my usual warning:
SI2 eyecleans are mainly those that have inclusions that can be covered or placed very close to a prong.
OR THEY HAVE COLUDS THAT DIMINISH THE BRIGHTNESS AND FIRE

Your usual warning is bullocks as far as I am concerned.

Not the words I would use but yes..., too general IMO...

Honestly is a good thing. But how is it eyeclean if the inclusion is being covered with a prong?

Don't forget those gaping FEATHERS, lol.

Trying to be helpful, and replying to the original post, asking How to find an exceptional SI2: I'd say your best bet is to work with one PS vendor, be patient, and let that vendor look until he of she finds one for you. I think the best SI2s are like those real estate deals: Sold before they ever hit the public listings. SI1 and SI2 really have to be seen (or I1 for that matter), and what one person declares acceptable might be unacceptable to someone else.

The larger the ct weight and the larger the table, the less likely to be eye clean. Also, the labs seem to be a little lenient in what they label SI2. Many of those recently graded SI2 (that I looked at), I'd call I1. There is downward pressure on diamond prices and not as much markup as in the old days. That probably forces everyone to call it a higher grade if it's borderline. (Just speculating / offering my opinion, which is not necessarily that of anyone else on PS, hehe.)

Not totally eye clean is not necessarily bad. One discrete dark speck can make a diamond SI2, but the speck may be in some region that your don't care about.
