I have a diamond solitaire engagement ring that I'd like to remove the diamond and reset it in a pair of earings. The diamond is a Old Mine cut, 1.02 carats, 6.1 x 5.3 x 4.3 mm, clarity grade VS-2, and color grade J.

Who should I contact about finding a matching (or similar stone) and reseting the diamond? And how close in size and quality should the other stone be to look good in a pair of earings?

Thanks

Dave Atlas's firm specialises in old cuts, perhaps you should send it there?
Or try recommended local B&M stores.

I am having someone in my office see what we might have. Where are you located?

Sorry, I don't have what you are looking for. You need to check out jewelry stores that carry estate jewelry. Also, look at auctions because you might be able to bid on a stone that accidently matches... It is not an easy thing to do.:twirl:

consider recutting the stone and matching it with a new stone.
This is what I would do.
