Hi everyone,

I did a search for this but it seemed that everyone was just posting the specs of a diamond they found and getting advice from that point.

My question is when I''m in the store looking at a diamond, how can I tell whether it is a good cut? What dimensions, depth, etc. are ideal for a radiant shaped diamond?

Welcome!

You can use this chart as a guide, http://diamonds.pricescope.com/fnc2.asp - but bear in mind the numbers give you a starting point, but Radiants are best evaluated by your own eyes, so if you find one you love, but the numbers aren't as recommended, don't worry about it as the eyes are the best judge!

Also check it out away from jewellery store lights if you can to see how you like it's personality. Also Radiants can show more colour than other shapes, so that can be a consideration also, some like to make an H their cut off point, but this varies either way according to the size and cut of the diamond and individual colour sensitivity. Also an ASET image is very useful if one is available, but above all, trust your own eyes.

See this thread for ASET info https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/why-we-prefer-aset-to-ideal-scope-with-fancy-shapes.73949/

you really need to see stones with ASET or have an ASEt photo to make any sort of decision - but very few radiants pass these tests.

ASET measures color???

Colourless Radiants need to have fans. If people want to try hard to like them then ASET is a great tool.
Unless you are simply a fan of crushed glass looks.

But for making light yellow or pink rough turn vivvid Diamcalc and radiants can be good
